Pre-pub delays

Anyone know why the pre-pub date for certain publications (like two new additions to the NAC) keep getting pushed down the road. A few weeks ago, on the date they were due, the date suddenly was changed to today. When I checked my orders today, now it says 12/9/09. I'm not complaining, but just trying to see if there is anything definitive about these dates or are they always this fluid?

Yes, Logos is busy with L4 support and development. When things settle a bit, I am sure these pre-pubs will come out. :-)

Fluid is the name of the pre-pub game, especially around the holidays. Those dates are less than estimates: they are "anticipated" ship dates. [:D]

Personally, I think "anticipated date" is even a stretch. I've had one pre-pub for about three weeks now change constantly. They'll move the date out 3 days and then late on that day, move it another 3 days out. They've done this about 5 times now at least. I would rather them move it out two weeks and STICk to it, rather than change it every couple of days. If they keep moving it two or three days, they are bound to be close to releasing.

Check out this true scenario:

I have "Life in a Risen Saviour by Robert S. Candlish" on Pre-Pub. It finally went LIVE today 12-04-2009.

I just checked it to see if I can download it and it is still listed as LIVE but has a ship date of 12-08-2009 (next Tuesday!) I also had another Pre-Pub "gathering interest" while approaching ship date. I have noticed what looks like a pattern for ship days. It seems Tuesdays & Thursdays actually get things out the door. Also, I am halfway across the USA and get my CD-Rom shipments in TWO DAYS, almost without fail! I suspect they actually ship before they say they do.... sneaky.

I've been waiting for a couple of years for the Encyclopedia of Christian Literature hardcover (original publication date was listed as 2007). It now has an actual release date listed, and is available on Amazon, and I've ordered a couple of copies, but that date keeps getting slipped back a couple of months at a time. I hope it gets into Logos format eventually and doesn't take anywhere near that long to ship. (Full disclosure: I wrote one of the entries in it, the one on Walter Wangerin; that's why I'm so keen to see this encyclopedia finally!)

Tom, You really need to get away from the computer more. 12-08-09 was LAST Tuesday. But, Nope, not yet. I'm not screaming about it.

If you got in on the first Community Pricing bid like I did, you would have it on Pre-Pub for $4! [:D]

Anyone know why the pre-pub date for certain publications (like two new additions to the NAC) keep getting pushed down the road.

I noticed the same thing as well. Also there has been slippage on the TOTC and TNTC. This is good in that I have spent waaaay more on Logos than I originally intended this year. (I'm trying to ignore the pre-pub page), but at the same time I could really use some of this stuff!
