Definitely interested! This would be great. I've been debating getting a tablet of some kind to be able to read books on, but haven't because of price, preference to laptops for portable computer use, not wanting a nice tablet just for reading, etc. I would probably purchase a cheap kindle paperwhite just for reading if you created this feature. That way I could read on a tablet-like device and leave computing to a real computer.0

Do you know that you can already read your Logos books on the Kindle? You just have to export them out of Logos into a text file and then load the text file onto your Kindle (not as nice as a "send to Kindle feature," but it just takes a few minutes to export a book.) If I understand what Logos is propossing, this feature wouldn't make reading on the Kindle possible, it would make it easier by automating the process of exporting the book onto your device. That would be good news then. I still have to buy a kindle though, lol. And, as I think about it, it might be worth the wait until this feature is added anyway. The desire is that one could read Logos books on kindle without much trouble and in an economical way. Spending a lot of time and effort converting books just to be able to read them on a kindle defeats both of those purposes.0

Apologies if someone already posted this and I missed it, but there is a guide on the Wiki on how to export a Logos book to Kindle format and maintain footnotes, section makers, and the table of contents. Obviously native support would be easier, but this is the best workaround I've found for now. Here's the link:

If you do buy a Kindle Fire as this feature is already present for that version. You can select the Kindle Fire just as you can an iPhone or iPad. The only difference is that you will need to reboot the Kindle Fire for the books to load there.

After some consideration I don't support/want the idea of Send to Kindle.
I think the Barnes n' Noble Nook HD 16 GB (or 8 GB if You have a small library on it) is a much better option. It costs a little more but has equally good battery life and more Logos functionality. Additionally the advantage of not supporting Logos's biggest competitor!
There's discussion going on right now in: Logos for Nook HD and HD+; It works!!. The news consists of that Barnes n' Noble has recently enabled installation of Logos on Nook, and someone tested it and it works very well!
So IMO Logos could save all the programming effort! Are You with me?

How on earth is it possible that a Send to Kindle feature would not support Amazon - wouldn't it for example encourage Logos users to buy Kindle books too?:

Not really. People who buy Kindle books are going to buy Kindle books. I do. (But if I have a choice, I get the Logos edition).

What are you talking about? Who said anything about "battery cost"? The point about battery life is that you can keep reading your book after the Nook would have died!

In the other thread, Android users made it clear (but you weren't listening) that you are going to have to have a wifi connection at some point… the same as with the Kindle.

Well, if it's not a big cost I don't see charging the Nook battery every day as an actual problem at all. There are no advantages with e-ink> it doesn't have functionality:

I'll do fine without the functionality that requires internet. And another advantage with the Nook HD is that it's available now. I wouldn't start investing in Kindle books, how do You know which ones of them will eventually make it to Logos?! And printed matter is also an alternative. Also, Logos has made no promise (yet?) whether to program the functionality or when it will be done.Disclosure!

For me, the reverse would occur. If I have a choice to buy a book in Logos vs Amazon and I don't care about highlighting/notes, then I'll buy it in Amazon. Reason is 1. Cost and 2. e-Reader. If the cost is close and I could buy it in Logos to have it searchable/notes/highlights (if needed), then i would buy it in Logos and read it on my e-ink (Amazon Kindle). I would probably end up buying more in Logos.

I don't follow how that happens, but I just ignore whatever Amazon puts out. I mostly buy from Logos and abebooks.co.uk, very little elsewhere. Abebooks is usually cheaper than Kindle books from what I've noticed, not necessarily for the exact same title but an equally good one, that's why I'm saying printed matter is an option. Sometimes abebooks is much more expensive for an equivalent, not the same, title, but when I buy in those cases the abebooks title is also much better! At abebooks the sellers can set the postage which gives them more freedom which often lowers the overall price.

This feature would be huge.
While it is currently possible to do this, the process is hugely time consuming. This also applies to books that I purchase on Vyrso.
Reading on an iPad or computer screen is too hard on the eyes to read for any extended length of time, so the Kindle is my reader of choice.0 -
Do any beta testers on this thread have such a feature? Or could a Logos staff person perhaps give an update? I'd be eager to see and use an easy Send to Kindle feature in Logos.

This isn't currently in beta, and up to this point, Logos is just feeling out interest. They haven't committed to actually doing it.

Kent- this is completely unrelated to the Kindle Fire, which already runs the Andoid app. This is about the eInk kindle devices.

I would be fairly confident that the 'new' publisher agreements that include iPhone/Android use are sufficiently broad to cover Kindle use as well.

I'm not confident one way or the other. I know that some resources are mobile enabled, but not biblia.com enabled. I don't think the publishers want to give away any more than they have to. It wouldn't surprise me either way.

It probably won't happen, but it is very possible. When you make a highlight on the kindle it clips the highlighted text and places it in a note file. Logos could give you the option to upload your clippings file from your Kindle and a search could identify all of the text in your clippings file and then highlight them in your Logos resource.alabama24 said:It really isn't possible and it won't happen.

Clippings might work... Which is a good idea... But you could not generate attached "notes" or "highlights" within Logos from the Kindle app.

123941 is not referring to Logos' clippings, but the fact that Kindles (except Kindle Fire) store their highlights in a file called MyClippings.txt, It would be theoretically possible for Logos to process that file, and apply that highlighting to the books in Logos. However, that file is specific to each Kindle device, and it doesn't contain highlighting that has been synced from other Kindle devices. But even more importantly, the MyClippings.txt file only records positition numbers, not the actual text highlighted. So it would be almost impossible for Logos to know for sure what part of the Kindle book was actually highlighted (which means I agree with you, alabama24, it wouldn't be possible to sync highlighting back to Logos).
