I had never heard of the Reverend himself, only peripherally through his wife Mary Fletcher who was one of very few female preachers of that era, and the first woman ever authorized to preach in the Methodist Church, by John Wesley himself. She was featured in a student presentation in my class on The Christian Pastor in Historical Perspective. So I'm in on this collection for her biography mostly.

Nice. I graduated from Asbury, so anything Wesleyan is a welcome addition.

It would be great to get Francis Asbury's 3 volume journal in Logos too.

We can easily get this down to $40 if the $30 and $35 people move up.

I am in because of his exchange of views with the great Augustus Montague Toplady.

In particular Fletcher responded to Toplady's 1772 work:

"More Work for Mr. John Wesley: or A Vindication of the Decrees and Providences of God from the Defamations of a late printed 'The Consequence Proved"

    with his 1776 work:

"An Answer to the Rev Mr Toplady's "Vindication of the Decrees" &c"

This is a very important collection, in which he takes on the (calvinistic) antinomianism of the day, which said that God does everything and we can do nothing:

"Depart, ye that made the doctrine of my atonement a cloak for your sins, or ' sewed' it as a ' pillow under the arms of my people,' to make them sleep in carnal security, when they should have ' worked out their salvation with fear and trembling.' You profess to know me, but I disown you. My sheep I know: them that are mine I know. The seal of my holiness is upon them all: the motto of it, (Let him that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity,) is deeply engraven on their faithful breasts,—not on yours, ye 'carnal, ye sold under sin!' "'And why called ye me, Lord! Lord! and did not the things which I said? ... Are not all my peculiar people ' partakers of my holiness,' and ' zealous of good works? Have not I chosen to myself the man that is godly''"

I'm mildly interested in this resource but not at the current price of $45 (65% off). I have not yet been convinced that the value is there. To me it is worth a max of $30 at this point but I may be missing something.

John Fletcher was John Wesley's handpicked choice to succeed him as leader of the Methodist movement; however, Wesley outlived Rev. Fletcher so that did not work out.  He was a close friend of Wesley and an early leader in the Methodist movement.

Many of us already have the Ages version of Fletcher's Works in Logos' format which seems to include everything but the biography of Mrs. Fletcher.  Is there some discount available for those having the Ages version?

If all you want is the bio of Mrs. Fletcher, you could wait until the collection gets broken up. It will probably end up being significantly less than the $40 that the whole collection went for in CP.

May be Logos will give you all a free update, similar to what they did with the C. H. Spurgeon sermon collection, which I think was also in older AGES format?

Logos has often done that, and I would obviously appreciate it.

If there is significant upgraded tagging, especially to the newer edition of John Wesley's Journal and Works, then I would certainly be willing to pay something.  On the other hand if the only significant difference is Mrs. Fletcher's biography, I would not want to pay much.   (After all, the old Ages version had tagging to Bible verses.  I would expect more than just that.)

One thing the new Works of the Rev. John Fletcher might offer that the Ages version did not is mobile app availability.  I don't believe the Ages Version is on my iPad app.

Of course, Wesleyan and Methodist studies are important to me, so I will probably eventually buy it no matter what they do.
