Logos 4 Windows on Parallels Question

I 'm running Mac OS 10.6.2, Dual 3.2 ghz Xeons, 14gb memory, HD 1Tb w/692.75 gb available.

Parallels and OS:

I'm running Parallels build 5.0.9220 Virtual Machine set to Processors 2, Main Memory 8192mb (8gb), Total Memory allocation 13312 mb (13 Gb).

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Issue:

Today, I started the Parallels and then Logo 4 Windows. It downloaded the latest stuff to the tune of 1.9 Gb. After it finished I was presented with a message from the handy Logos symbol to wit:

Low Storage

Unable to copy resources due to low storage. Please check that you have 1 Gb of free storage available.

However, the message disappears faster then it can be read. But it comes up every time I open Logos 4 now. Because there is no versioning in Logos 4 I can't tell if it actually updated or the message is valid and the program cannot update

I ran the same thing on another Mac with the same version of Parallels different Mac set up and XP and it worked fine.

Any ideas? Compatibility issue with Win 7 64 bit?

Unless you have a very small base package, that is not enough storage space. I have Platinum with multiple extras and the system choked on 31 GB. The index that L4 builds is huge (every word of every resource). I use Fusion, so I am not familiar with Parallels' virtual disk set up. If you can expand the drive, do so. I could not with Fusion 2, so I had to create another virtual volume and move L4 to it.

Sounds like the physical size of your virtual machine is too small. P5 allows for you to resize your drive. I have not tried this, so I recommend you seek the help file before proceeding. If you go to virtual drive/customize/hardware then hard drive you will see the button.

Your posts caused me to actually read the help file. What a concept! One I seldom use.

For the rest of the Parallels users that view this. On my 1 TB (Terabyte) drive Parallels gave me a default VM of 32 GB. Thats what caused my problem.

I am using the Scholars Platinum 4 and the latest 1.9 GB update download ran out of space. Using Parallels Image Tool I resized the VM to 64 GB.

Bingo problem solved.

Rick, I can't speak to the 32 bit, but I would be surprised. I ran L4 in a Win 7 (64 bit) VM and if 32 bit to substantially surpass the performance I was getting, the searches would have to give me results BEFORE I typed in the query. 3 second results to large bible queries were not unusual. I also found that Parallels 5 was giving me about a 1 second edge on search results over Fusion 3.1
