Annoying BUG

Is anyone else experiencing this BUG with the new L5.1 update?

When I open the library panel and reorder the spreadsheet page, for example, if I go to the last column and reorder by "Last Updated" which then reorders my books, and if I open one or two books, or even click on a different window thus closing the library window, when I return to the library window (re-opening it) it is reset to the default ordering by "Title" and I have to go through the same process of reordering the spreadsheet (i.e. there is no spreadsheet ordering memory). The library window does, however, remember a typed reference in the box, such as "author:random", etc., but the layout part still resets. A bit annoying when you are trying to do organizational work in your library.

The new update I installed today "Logos 5.1 SR-1" did not fix this, and I did not happen to see this problem posted anywhere in the forums. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? This BUG only started after the new 5.1 update, though I also know sometimes BUGs can be computer (to some degree) specific.

The behaviour you describe is how I thought it had always worked - I haven't noticed any difference, in this regard, with the new 5.1 release

Are you aware that you can open the library panel in a floating window (it is an option if you right-click on the Library icon)? This stays open when you open books or click on a different window allowing you to continue with the work you are doing in your library.

You're talking about the 'dropdown' Library, right?

In that case it does keep the sorting order for me on 5.1. Haven't downloaded the SR yet.

So this does sound like a bug, either for Windows, or in the SR.

(If, on the other hand, you're talking about a Library tab, then you will have to start over if you close it and open it again, but then it won't remember the filtering either, so I don't think that's what you're talking about.)

I was thinking about this when I was out earlier and realised that I never really use the dropdown menu (I always have the library open in a floating window) so my comments about how things used to work should probably be ignored.

I assumed that it would behave the same in both cases[:$]

Works correctly in SR1 as well, so this must be a Windows bug.

I was referring to the dropdown menu library in my earlier post, since, if you open the library in a new window, it really doesn't have a chance to reset. I used the ordering spreadsheet (from the dropdown menu) often for tagging purposes (especially after purchasing a collection, or upgrading). Then one can only open 10 resources at a time which of course closes the drop-down menu (for me reviewing the TOC in certain books = more precise tagging for specific collections I've made). And of course for convenience, I generally have the library dropdown sorted by "last updated" to tag the latest batch of books, etc., but now (that is after the L5.0 update) the dropdown library automatically resets everytime to the default order by title.

But fgh is right when he is speaking about the dropdown menu. I do use both the dropdown menu and sometimes a fixed window. I'm running:

Windows 7 (64 bit) Service Pack 1

Dell Inspiron 1464

Intel Core i5 (CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz 2.40GHz)

4 GB memory

I don't really know how it could be a Windows bug since it always worked the way I described before, but I really don't know that much about code, etc.

That's what makes it a Windows bug.[:)]

Bug = it doesn't work as it should. Windows bug = it's only broken on Windows. On Mac it works as it should.

I have same problem but have since started opening the library in a floating panel and think that I will keep using it this way - even better than the drop down version on the home page.

I do wish the Library floating window remembered the sort order between sessions of Logos, though. Probably 99% of the time I like to view my Library in the order of newest items first, and having to sort it each time is getting old. I never scroll through it alphabetically looking for a title, as I always use filtering to find a particular title. Have too many resources to be able to make any real use of alphabetical order.

"Rank" is Logos' estimation of how well the listed resources matched your filter (where "1" is the best match). It's based on a number of factors, but exact title matches should be ranked near the top, followed by partial title matches and author matches. Resources that match the filter only in their descriptions should be ranked near or at the end.

And it [seemingly] completely ignores the field it should search first, viz Abbreviated Title. "ST" results in Summa Theologica showing up as number 444... Even "Summa" doesn't put it higher than 9 (though the Latin edition ranks 6, for some odd reason).

Please, Bradley, why is this the only Library column I can't even turn off? I hate it. It just takes up space I need for other columns. I wouldn't use it even if it worked well, since one has to click on it anew for each separate search, and in the time that takes, I can easily find the book with the sorting I already have.
