Just curious, how many people own portfolio? just upgraded but wanted to know who has same package.
The Pillar and Baker commentaries were in Platinum.
The withdrawal of Pillar, Baker and NIGNT was, in my opinion, a significant loss to the base packages. I am not sure I would have upgraded to Platinum with the launch of L4 had it not been for the (then) inclusion of these sets.
I did not upgrade to Portfolio until the launch of L5, but I seem to remember that the International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia was included in Portfolio, but then removed with the launch of L5 (I may be wrong on this).

That's right - I totally forgot about the NIGTC. That was a huge loss.
When I bought Portfolio, I did so because I assumed that there must be a special place in Heaven for those who own it. I'm still searching hard for a good biblical prooftext to validate my assumption.
Can't help you with a biblical prooftext, but I did search my Logos library for portfolio NEAR heaven and found this:
When we invest our lives and resources in the spiritual service of others in our walk and in our words, we are investing in eternal relationships. In effect, we are building a “portfolio” in heaven and sending our assets ahead of us.
Kenneth Boa, Handbook to Spiritual Growth: Twelve Facets of the Spiritual Life (Atlanta, GA: Trinity House Publishers, Inc., 2008), 373–374.

Wow, nice find, Rosie. I'm impressed!
Next I was going to ask you to search your library for any indication of whether or not there will be Logos in Heaven (the Logos software, that is), but I'm too afraid that I won't like the answer.
[:P]
Ok. Just checking because I bought it as well. I just wanted a complete library in which I could research and enjoy the word of God. Thank you all. God bless!!
I finally went with Portfiolio a couple weeks ago. Assuming you have the usual commentaries that most of the base packages run light on, Portfolio makes sense. It doesn't represent a game changer, but if you spend a lot of time studying with Logos, it will eventually prove worthwhile.
Next I was going to ask you to search your library for any indication of whether or not there will be Logos in Heaven...
John 1.1 In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God... [:P]

Take a closer look at what I wrote in parentheses right after the point where you ended my quote. [:)]
I got it for about $2000 with the academic discount.
shouldn't it be 50% off? which would make $2500 instead of $2000? no?
i don't know, I might be wrong ...

It was.

Upgrades have dynamic pricing, he already had some resources included in Portfolio so received a greater discount.
I also have Portfolio.
thinking about upgrading to Portfolio..
other than ISBE, was there anything else that were removed since the released of L5 Portfolio?
I think it is mentioned above in piecemeal fashion...Baker Exegetical and Pillar were both removed, I believe.
thanks David..
Did they just removed them or did Logos replace them with something else?
it feels to me that the value is Portfolio is less than the original ... specially those 2 commentaries are really good.

Keep in mind that if you already own those commentaries, you keep them even if they are no longer part of the base package you upgrade to.

true, I bought them way more expensive than those who purchased Portfolio in the beginning.
The fact that Logos took them away and didn't replace them, the original value has dropped drastically.
ps: Logos has a habit of doing this .. in L4, L5, and recently 500 Mega Pack. (removing books from the first released package)
I do not speak for Logos and I am sure there are different reasons they may make the decision to remove or change the resources offered in a package / bundle. However based on what they have said in the past, very often it is not their choice; it is a decision made by the publisher.
I have it.
