Last week my MacBook Pro hard drive crashed. I've replaced it and am near the end of rebuilding my system. Though I didn't have a Time Capsule or other backup, I was able to get the files off the bad drive by using it as an external drive. Though not perfect, having that data saved me much time and loss of files. When it came to Logos however, it was without value. I reinstalled Logos and also transferred over the resources to the new drive. But, once I started Logos, it proceeded to "Download Updates" to the tune of 802G. I live in the country and have only a slow air-card connection; after 24 hours the download froze at 94% complete. I tried again and it started over at 0%. With little hope of eventually getting it to work, I figured there must be a way to use the files from my old hard drive instead of a new download, so I called tech support. She said there is no way to get my program back without downloading the 802G. I believe this is a major negative regarding Logos which should be addressed and fixed. In my opinion it fits into one of the most frustrating problems with Logos, which is the seemingly endless indexing of files and cumbersome internet interactions. Also, aside from forcing a terabit download, the program apparently has no way of using a partial download, either to install the 94% I downloaded, or to do a sum check and restart a download at the point of failure. I receive so much advertising from Logos that recently I've considered marking it as junk. For me, improving some of the most frustrating elements of the software would be of much more value than offers of an upgrade designed especially for me or a pre-publication seminary level course for $1,000. Apart from general grousing, the purpose of this post is to see if anyone knows how to finesse the program into recognizing resources transferred in rather than downloaded. I assume, though I can't be positive, that if I'd had a time capsule backup the program would have worked without requiring a new download.
