4.0aB2 - Syntax search broken

I installed 4.0aB2 over my SR-7. Then did a merging index (before I knew about the bug http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6164.aspx).
I forced a re-index and it helped a bit, but when I try to do a Syntax search I get the message "Syntax features are currently disabled because the necessary resources are currently unavailable."
I looked in Local\Logos4\Documents\gg1jqivj.skj\Documents\SyntaxSearch and only found the file "SyntaxSearch.db." Other folders in the \Documents folder usually have a sub folder with long alpha-numeric names along with the *.db file.
- Is there a quick fix - replace a missing or corrupt file or folder? (my first choice solution)
- Will waiting to install Beta 3 solve this problem? (my second choice solution - ETA?)
- Or do I have to do a fresh install of 4.0aB2? (My last choice solution) (Can I copy the \Documents folder from this install and copy it back after the reinstall to save my clippings, notes, favorites, etc. without damaging the new install?)

Don't know if it will work, but you could try typing update resources in the command bar.
Note: this can take several minutes while nothing seems to be happening, just let it run. If after 15 or 20 minutes you don't see anything downloading, it probably didn't work.
I have no idea if this will fix the issue. It will only work if the issue is a corrupt resource. If the problem is a corrupt sytnax search data base, we haven't seen any method here for rebuilding that.

Hi Richard,
That triggered a short flurry of network and hard drive activity and then it told me it was downloading 27 meg of resources. After they were loaded and Logos restarted I tried the Syntax Search again, but it did the same thing with the same message. Thank you for the good Idea. Looks like if fixed something (don't know what), but it wasn't the Syntax Search problem.

Did you restart L4 after the download? Don't know if it's required, but it couldn't hurt.

Yes - twice. Once right after the update and again about 20 minutes later.

[sigh]Oh well.
You could try taking that syntaxsearch.db out of the L4 path (just move it) and see if L4 rebuilds it. (Of course, close L4 before moving it.) If it doesn't work, just move it back.
NOTE: this is a fully non-documented procedure. I have no idea if this will work, or make things worse. I'm going to put "support request" in the tag and see if that attracts a support person from Logos to this issue.

The syntaxsearch.db file also certainly isn't going to help. It only contains a record of your syntax searches. The Document folder only contains your documents, not system info. If you're going to try (temporarily) delete anything, you may find it more helpful to have a go at the files in Local\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\SyntaxDatabase
Disclaimer: This could make it worse! But it's more likely to make it better.

Richard and Mark,
I removed the syntaxsearch.db file and Logos did create a replacement, but that did not help - same problem.
I removed the two files in the Local\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\SyntaxDatabase folder and Logos did NOT replace the files and the problem was not solved. I copied the two files back to that folder - still has same problem.

Tim,
It looks like you may have corrupt resources from the Beta.
Try deleting the resources LexhamSGGNT.lbssyn, LexhamSGGNT.lbxclv and LexSGGlossary.logos4 from the L4 resource folder and then force a download with Update Resources.

Damian,
I deleted the files, launched Logos and did the Update resources. It did download files and the application closed and restarted - still has the same problem. I closed the application and launched it again and it still has the same problem.

Tim,
Can you start the program with logging enabled and post your log?
My suggestion is to turn off the home page and open the only the syntax search pane. Then close the program and restart it. This should quickly identify in the logs what the problem is...0 -
Damian,
Please refresh my memory - I tried to enable logging with the old link for that function provided in the private beta - apparently it doesn't work with 4.0aB2 (there is no change in the Logos4.log when I try). What is the correct command in Logos or link outside of Logos to enable logging?

Tim,
just hold down control while clicking the icon to start the program and it will enable logging for that session with logs in your "My Documents" folder.

That sounds familiar! I did it (3 times) but the file C:\Users\Tim\Documents\Libronix Log Files\Logos4.log did not changed. only entries in the file are dated 10/31/2009 - nothing for today.

Not sure why that doesn't work. Doesn't work on my machine either.
There's a javascript program here http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3181/25800.aspx#25800 which I just downloaded and installed and it enabled logging.

My syntax stuff disappeared again too. Even though you deleted the corrupted files, the program was stuck....
The answer is here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/2733/20517.aspx#20517
- Close all of your search tabs/panels
- File -> Syntax Search
- Create a super-simple query in a database other than Lexham Syntax Graphs of the Greek New Testament (LSGGNT) (e.g. Switch to OpenText and add a "Word" and specify the gloss "husband")
- Run the search by clicking the "Search" button

THAT DID IT! Thank you Damian, Richard and Mark for all your help. I thought I'd be un-installing and re-installing 4.0ab2 tonight but would have probably ended up with the same problem in short order.
I just love bleeding edge beta testing.
Blessings all.

Tim,
You're welcome.
I did do a complete reinstall (a nightmare one at that) and it did not fix my problem.
I was simply advised to delete the files mentioned. But, this apparently did not completely solve my problem...
Unfortunately, Logos techs have been very unhelpful on this particular issue.
All Beta testers should have been advised to delete the damaged files and to ensure that the program was not stuck on a syntax search in a non-existent/corrupt resource.
This is a known Bug..... with a known workaround...

Hi Damian, sounds like you've been having fun in my absence!
Appears nothing has changed wrt B2 and when I got back the 1.9GB Update to desktop from last week had re-introduced all 3x SGGNT files I had deleted!! I'm just gonna leave them until the (secret beta) licence expires. I also got them back on my laptop when I ran the Upgrade DVD!
Any other news Damian?

I was quite stunned to discover that the "fix" that was only vaguely offered actually fixed nothing! I'm more than a little disappointed in the way these forums are structured and attended....

Thanks for the heads up. Mine are back to. What is that about?????

It's the same-old same-old....... here, at least - it's getting more than a bit tiring....
Thankfully, our schools are off, so the work-load is decreasing until the week before Christmas.... (though I'm in the middle of brushing up on my Spanish for a Spanish Mass next weekend - Dios mi ayuda!)

I think it means that beta licence artefacts will remain until the licence expires or you Hide them (the beta LEB did not revert!).
