Rate your RECENT purchases???

I've noticed a newish feature on the account page: "Rate your recent purchases"

If you're calling it that, it might be better if you actually proposed recent purchases for us to rate. I acquired Augustine's Confessions back with L2 Level 4, many many years ago. So it's hardly a "recent" purchase.

They probably had designed the 'recent' metric in 'George-time'.

I agree. It's not very useful.

It always shows the same one for me (John Bunyan's Grace Abounding...). I have no memory of buying it. Probably in a base package upgrade from a couple years ago.

What if I don't want to rate it or haven't read it yet? There's no way to dismiss it.

I am thinking that in time it will go away. Or, they could give us the option to set the amount of time that the notice appears. I prefer it here, than getting an email asking me to take a survey like most companies do.

It's been the same one for a couple weeks (since they upgraded the account UI). If it's not gone already, then I have no reason to believe it will.

They probably meant to say,"Rate ALL of your purchases" starting with the earliest ones found in their accounting system. Or, perhaps the company figured that, since to the Logos, a thousand years is a day, "recent" can mean many many years ago. [:)]

Patience my good man, the website is a work in progress. I think it was Phil Gons who said that they are revamping the website and will consider the option to allow you to open a book that you already own from the website. That was a loose paraphrase of what he said.

So look for changes in times to come. On the other hand, it is good that we are having this discussion, if they did not plan to take it away, at least they know that we want it to eventually go. It is not the latest product that I got from Logos before it was setup (at least not to my recollection). It seems more like a test document.

Apparently, it's already been fixed. What you're seeing is your most recent ratable product. It skips all the products that aren't ratable (i.e., have already been rated, SKU isn't currently live, is a Vyrso book). I've asked for a few tweaks to this so we have better mapping between the product you purchased and the one that's live on the website, the ability to skip, etc. We'll probably drop the "recent" label as well, since it won't always be true.

Phil, I have a number of commentaries that I can rate, but will write reviews first, and the one in my box is something that I acquired so long ago that I have forgotten when. But thanks and glad to know that it is being worked on.

I don't think that's what I'm seeing, Phil. I believe I picked up the Bunyan volume that is showing when I upgraded to Platinum in 2009. I picked up the Bunyan volume that is showing on April 2, 2012. (So it's slightly more recent than I thought.) I've made some other purchases since then. [:)]

My most recent purchase is The Dialogues of Plato. It's ratable.

(My in-app ratings don't affect the site ratings do they?)

Does "already been rated" mean products that I've rated in the Logos desktop UI? Or only on the website? If the former, then something's wrong, because I have already rated Augustine's Confessions in the Logos app. If the latter, then something's wrong, because I've purchased thousands of books since Augustine's Confessions and have never rated any of them on Logos.com, so there must be something more recent than my purchase of Augustine's Confessions to rate.

The fix for the bug is checked in but not released yet. I just moved the fix into testing and it will be deployed in the next release. Sorry for the confusion, I was not clear enough when I emailed Phil about the feature.

"Already been rated" means products that you've rated on the website.

Thanks! Now that it's truly showing the most recently purchased book, I am wishing there was a "no-opinion" setting in the rating control. I'm not likely to read the book that's showing anytime soon.

Glad to help! Code to always show the "Rate Another" button is currently under review. The control will default to the most recently purchased book but will allow you to skip on to the next.
