I am becoming more and more convinced of the value of taking notes in the guides. Today I received SESB in the mail, loaded it up and was fearful that in order to get the new Apparatus to appear in the passage guide Apparatus section I was going to have to re-enter the note I had at that section. that section was grayed out which really scared me as i thought my note was gone. When I expanded it not only were the new Apparati present but my notes were there as well!
Logos, Is this the way notes in the guides work for all sections? If I have recorded notes in the Commentary section and deleted some of the unwanted commentaries, and then down the road buy some new commentaries, what will happen when I open up this guide? will 1) my note be deleted and all commentaries restored 2) My note be intacted, commentaries I deleted be added back to the section, and new commentaries added or 3) notes be maintained, deleted commentaries remain deleted, and new commentaries be added?
I somewhat just answered my own question. In the past I would refresh the entire guide with F5. This, as I recall, would destroy the notes. I Just tested to see what would happen when I refreshed just the commentary section and my note was still there! This alleviates most of my past apprehensions with maintaining notes in the guides. I would still like to hear some comment from Logos regarding their vision for passage/exegetical/word study guide notes but from my brief experience I believe they will supersede traditional notes in value as they provide an enormously better way to organize Bible-text related notes. I would love to be able to add and title my own note sections, much the same way we can add collection sections now. For instance, I would add a note section, give it a title "20091206 Sermon Outline" as currently there is no appropriate section to put such notes in.
sorry this became a bit longer then I anticipated, but I am really excited about the possibilities I envision.
