I feel a little sad sometimes when I look at some of the stagnant CPs. What can I do, I ask myself, to help push some of these resources to production. As an example, I really want the Catholic Encyclopedia in my library now! I'm sure many of you feel the same about many of the other CPs as well.
Why can't I, for example, fund the project from my own pocket? I would donate if Logos is a non-for-profit organization, but, alas, it's not. So what is the for-profit equivalent? Couldn't Logos for example allow individuals (or seminaries, or churches, ... -fill in the blank-) to partner by providing finances that help produce a Logos publication of a work while out of copyright doesn't have enough supporters to make it through the community pricing stage? I for one would be willing to do that.
I would bear the losses if the resource fails to sell later, thus allowing Logos to avoid the risk completely, but would also want to share in the profit, if it actually eventually turns out to be profitable on the long run. Is this something doable?
