Jumpy Scrolling

I'm having an issue in Logos 5 with jumpy scrolling. When scrolling down while reading my ESV version of the Bible, the text will jump back up to what I've previously read. For example, if I have read verses 1-5 of a particular chapter and try to scroll down to continue reading on, once I scroll to verse 6 the text will jump back up to verse 4.

I did have quite a few commentaries and other versions linked to my ESV, and, thinking that was the problem, I unlinked (and closed) everything but my ESV and NAC commentary. It still jumped. When I unlinked the NAC, though, it stopped jumping.

So, I think I have narrowed the problem down to this particular commentary. Unfortunately, that is my "go to" commentary. Any way to fix this issue?

Looks like an NAC owner needs to show up.

But given the religious nature of Logos programming with no 'leader' links (Jesus said the first shall be last), linking has much to do with commentaries driving the Bibles crazy. This is especially true if the resource is older (in Logos years) and you're working in smaller panels. A tiny miscalculation on the commentary text placement misaligns the linking. Sometimes it can be off by 3-4 verses. I typically use 9 panels and de-link the commentaries.

There are a couple of common reasons for "jumpiness."

Linked resources
Column set to "1" or more instead of "none."

Can you give a screen shot and a specific example?

My practice is to leave commentaries unlinked. I'll either enter the passage manually, or link and then unlink as soon as the reference updates.

The reason I do this is just what you're finding. Some commentaries discuss a number of verses at once, and then may discuss them one at a time. The link will always point the commentary to the first instance of the verse (even in the middle of a series of verses). This makes the commentary link counter-productive. The behavior you describe is also annoying.

One other reason I prefer to have my commentaries unlinked is that I can read them without scrolling my Bible, and I can read my Bible without scrolling my commentary. Both are often useful to me as I study.

Thanks Alabama. I did try setting the column to 1, 2, and even auto, but still experienced the jumpiness. Turning off the linking seems to be the only solution so far. Thank you for your help!
