Notes

I'm finding the lack of a Notes section in the Android app to be a huge hindrance to the usability of my entire Logos package. Mobile is much more convenient than having to pull my computer out all of the time. Plus, I preach off of my tablet, not my computer. I'd like to have access to the sermon notes I've created. I'd rather stay within the Logos ecosystem than have to copy and paste to Google docs. I know you all are working on this. The app is great, but this missing feature really hurts it. Please make this a top priority. I know pastors other than me who would appreciate it also. Be blessed guys, and thanks for what you do. It makes my life easier for sure.

    Hi Nick,

This feature is currently being worked on for the Android app, although I don't know when it will be available.

I don't understand why software so rich with content can't have a notes section in the mobile Android device that syncs back to the desktop. I'm holding off purchasing until this feature is added as I mostly using my android device for everything I do - I don't want to be shackled to a desktop for notes organization.  As far I can tell - there's also no way to even search notes created on an android device or even create categories. That's a bummer - I was really liking this app - with great highlighting and markup features.

Until the android or nook hd+ (basically android) has the full rich content for notes, the best workaround I found was evernote or quickoffice that do sync with a laptop or desktop.  Us androiders have to sit back and play the preverbial, 'hurry up and wait game'.  Hated that in the military, and far to often it is happening in civilian life.  Today's society has the great problem of wanting everything yesterday in today's instant lifestyle.  Ouch, three fingers pointing back to me.  I guess we can hope and wish.

  • DWill Logos have an option to notify us by email when NOTES issue is resolved, either in a gix or upgrade?

I agree with the above comments... having notes is an important part of this software, and not having them on my kindle is a BIG inconvenience!   (Logos competitors do have notes incorporated to their mobile apps btw)

Ok, so this is something Logos is "working on", but I'd like to know how high of a priority it is?

Will Logos give us SOME ESTIMATE for RELEASE??? Like Next month, this winter, Spring 2014, in 5 years, what?...  PLEASE?

just post your text/sermon notes as a note attatched to verse in desktop - syncs on android and scrolls if longer than window

This would work for sermon notes (maybe), and certainly works for a note that is really just about that verse (which is a good feature), but if I want to make topical notes I'd have to remember which verse it's linked to.  Personally, the biggest reason that I use notes is to have them arranged topically with multiple verses referenced - so linking them to a specific verse doesn't really help much.  The more important issue for me (and probably most other users) is that I have already created MANY notes and want to have access to them on my tablet.  That's the real reason this feature is needed.

...I personally am currently working on the notes implementation for Android, specifically with the goal of feature parity with iOS. I understand that from an outsider perspective it can seem like we're dragging our feet or not putting enough priority on the problem, but I assure you, we are working hard.

I read every post that is made on both this forum and the Android Beta forum, so I certainly realize how many people want both notes and vertical scrolling (and every other feature that is requested). Both of these are complicated problems, and specifically note support requires a significant amount of structural code that must be written carefully and then tested inside and out to avoid bugs that could corrupt your existing note data.

Anyway. I'm just writing to let you know your concerns are not falling on deaf ears. I appreciate your continued patience and support of Logos and the Android team.

Drew, thanks for the link I appreciate the feedback, good to know the notes feature is being actively worked on!  Please don't get me wrong, I really like the software and appreciate all the work you and the others at Logos have put in on it.  I've been using it (on my PC) for years and it's awesome to have this for my new kindle!

I would just really like to have some idea (even just a rough idea) as to when this is expected for release, or an estimate when it might go to beta release (that'd be good reason for me to enroll in the beta - assuming it's open).

For me, access to the Notes I've created over the years is one of the most important features of the software.  So, if this is something for Summer 2014, then I'll do something else (like export my notes to a word doc so I can access them on my tablet and deal with updates to them somehow later), but if it's weeks away (from beta), I'll just wait.

Okay, that phrases it in a way that I can comment. I would lean much more towards weeks away from beta than Summer 2014. [:)]

    Ahh, great Drew, thanks much!

I'll enroll in the beta and look forward to helping test this feature.
