For the many of us that already own Dan Wallace's Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics will we receive an update with the recently released Zondervan Biblical Languages Collection (35 vols.)? At least updated cover art?
this whole thing about the "new" and "old" GGBB. Ah Ha! THAT's what I misunderstood. I thought we were talking GGBB vs. ZBLC. Now I think I know what's going on. Can I have a day to fix it?

If we're gonna get our GGBB updated with links, typos and other stuffed fixed, then you can take 2 days instead of one [:P]
Thank you for your patience also, I'm sure it's kind of hard to remain focused when everybody seems to be lashing at you and Logos.

Ps. You are fairly quick to respond sir, keep it up! [Y]
(calling the same title a "different resource")
That wasn't my intent. I thought the 2 resources in question were the title & the collection. Now I understand what's happening, and I'm working toward the kind of solution that we've all come to expect from Logos customer service.
Hope Logos is not getting into the business of introducing fine print that customers will generally not read - like Galaxie versus Zondervan, Title versus File Name, and so forth
Thanks for all your help Ray!
That wasn't my intent. I misunderstood the original question.
Thanks Ray! We all make mistakes, and forgiveness is freely extended.
I have news.
All owners of GGBB will receive a free update to the new version.
Normally this happens automatically, but when we created the Zondervan Biblical Language Collection (35 vols.) we completely rebuilt GGBB, gave it a new resource ID and retired the old resource. This is a-typical, and led to much of the confusion in this thread (mostly mine).
Everyone who bought the discounted 34 volume upgrade will get an email about it too (because they're most effected, and I wouldn't want to miss anyone) but everyone who owned GGBB previously will get the update.
Again, I'm sorry for the mix up. It's been a wild day for me, chasing this down. I'm glad we were finally able to resolve it. It may be a few days yet before the update gets pushed, but I wanted to let everyone know the result.

Thanks for the good news [Y]
Thank you so much! You, sir, deserve a good raise on your next review!
Thanks for all your work on this, Ray!
Thanks Ray!
Ray, please send me the long answer also. Thanks,

Thank you Ray for all your hard work and the duress enduring chasing this down! I am sure you have been the bearer of news that will make many very happy!
This is fantastic news. I really wanted to get the Zondervan collection, but I have many of the books in print and couldn't justify the expense right now. Since there was the "If you already own GGBB" version of the collection, I assumed that resource would be unchanged. Since it is in fact updated, I'm thrilled to be getting the new version.
Thanks much,
Donnie
I received the update
Greek Grammar BEYOND the BASICS
today. Thanks.
I just got my update as well. Thanks Logos!
Soft-coded page numbers, finer graphics, and (finally) the indexes!
What's not to like?
Thank you, Logos, for the update!
P.S. Is there an option somewhere to allow users to obliterate (not just hide) the older version? I don't like having multiple versions around.
The Logos Hide function is misnamed. Hiding a resource actually removes it from your hard drive and from your library and indexes. All that is left is the license information in case you want to download it from the Logos servers sometime in the future, and the only evidence of that is in the "Hidden Resources" section of the Program Settings.
Thank you for pointing that out. [:)]
Logos, and Ray, wanted to say THANKS from the bottom of heart for all help, and sorry for driving you nuts. When buying all else I think thrice, when buying Logos, I do not think :-) but trust and I should say that this has been greatly upheld in this situation!
Peace, Ray! *smile* Thank you very kindly to you and to Logos!
I would have been extremely disappointed if my "old" (now!) resource would have gone out of date. As it is now, I still have to transfer the notes I had in the old resource to the new one; but that can be done joyfully because of you guys! *smile*
Hiding a resource actually removes it from your hard drive and from your library and indexes.
Not from the indexes. It takes a reindex to accomplish that.

How do you figure? It doesn't show up in search results after it is hidden. If it's still in the index, there are no outward signs of it, and that's what matters, I think.
The data for the hidden resource is left in the index for a few reasons:
If you hid a large percentage (say >15%) of the resources in your library, it may be worthwhile rebuilding the indexes overnight to get back that disk space.
How do you figure?
Because it's been said so multiple times. And because my index did get smaller when I reindexed after hiding a lot of books.
If it's still in the index, there are no outward signs of it, and that's what matters, I think.
Depends. In most cases, yes, but if you've got a lot hidden and a full HD, a reindex might be worthwile.
EDIT: I see Bradley beat me to it.[:)]
The data for the hidden resource is left in the index for a few reasons: The amount of space it takes up is pretty small on average (less than 1MB for the typical resource). Spending several hours rebuilding the index to save 1MB of disk space doesn't seem worthwhile. If the resource was hidden accidentally, it can be restored quickly. Since it's still in the index, no reindexing is required for the unhidden resource to immediately appear in search results.
So are the hidden resources just filtered out of the search results then? Wouldn't that be time consuming if a person had couple thousand resources hidden?

Yes.

It would add a small amount of overhead, depending on the size of the hidden resource, and the text being searched for. If the word being searched for doesn't occur in the hidden resource, there is no overhead; hiding all of Greek and Latin Perseus or TENTGM wouldn't affect the speed of searches for English words* (although it could make Greek searches slightly slower).
* There is some English text in those resources, but it's such a small amount that I'm ignoring it for the purposes of this discussion.
Thank you so much! I've just downloaded my new copy of Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics. I noticed both are by Zondervan, except the old version has "Zondervan and Galaxie" as publishers and not just Galaxie as previously thought. I guess it was that way because Zondervan allowed Galaxie to sell it - oh well, it doesn't matter anymore, I'm just thankful Logos provided us with an updated copy of it.
Blessings!

The really frustrating part is I now have both books, and when I search verses for references, I get identical hits in both books. Also, it's real frustrating transferring all the highlights from the old version to the new version; is there a quick way to do that?
I have not received my copy yet. I did get the 1089 resource update and a few other downloads but no new Theocratic Kingdom.

I think you may have posted on the wrong thread. This one is about the new copy of Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics not Theocratic Kingdom - unless you just wanted to throw that out there...[:P]
