Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia Problem
I am a student in seminary taking classes on the Pentateuch over two quarters. Today I was required to translate from the Hebrew text. Doing so is virtually impossible. The text is written from right to left, however the words themselves are written backwards, that is, from left to right. Examples, Waw/Vav as a conjunction at the end of a word rather than the beginning of a word. Final Mems and Nuns are at the beginnings of words instead of at the end. Right now, as it stands the Hebrew text is gibberish. Also, the vowel pointings are not under correct letters.
I am currently using the beta version of the Logos Bible software on an Asus Transformer tablet.
Is there a fix for this? If not is there a time table for it be fixed?

Hey Jason,
What version of Android are you running? In Android 4.2, there were some fixes related to Hebrew font rendering. You can read more of the discussion and details in this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/53055.aspx

Please take the time to read the above thread before giving a link to a completely unrelated problem.
The Hebrew vowel marks lining up has never been the problem.
The problem is the display of each individual word is backwards.
The pages are set up to read right to left since it is Hebrew... but the words themselves are backwards.

Sorry for the confusion...I did read the above thread, I thought your issue might have also been fixed by the updates to Android's Hebrew rendering. The Android update was not limited to fixing vowel points, that's just what people happened to be discussing in the thread I linked to. Have you tested your issue on a device running Android 4.2 or 4.3?

I can confirm that on the Nexus 7 running Android 4.3 the BHS text displays correctly.

Bhs works fine on my nexus 4 but the page turns are in the wrong direction. The iPad correctly reverses the page turns.

The page turns are in the wrong direction on my GS4. Is there a fix in the works for it?

A case has been created to correct page turns in right to left resources. I included this forum link in the case so when a developer gets assigned to fix it they should report back when the fix can be expected.

Including a link to the forum is an excellent move to provide not just the bug but also the context of the occurrence (e.g. how aggravating it is, the kind of work-tasks involved...)
It could also trick more devs into accessing the forums in their spare time! (assuming they have spare time...)
By the way, Hebrew scripture on portable devices. Looking good! We have come far indeed! Kudos to Logos!

It's actually our normal process to include forum links in our dev cases...we probably just have never mentioned that to you guys before. [:)]

No need to trick us! I know I personally read every Android forum post and I believe Gabe and David check pretty regularly as well.

Right to left text selection and page turning in Hebrew, Arabic and other RTL resources will be fixed in the next update.
