I experience eye strain after reading in my Logos Library for long periods. Does anybody know of any device that is not LED backlit that is available for Logos?
Hey Randy!
I am not aware of any tablets which can run any of the mobile apps, and that will meet your needs. Have you tried using an e-ink device, such as a regular kindle? It is possible to convert your books to a format accessible on those devices... But just for reading (not for highlighting, or taking notes.)
What device are you reading Logos with? Is there an option to adjust brightness? I know I personally experience some eye-strain that can be ameliorated by turning the brightness down.
I read that some Kindles can use Logos, but that's not the full Logos 5 that you have on a PC or Mac. An old CRT probably wouldn't help. Presumably you are aware of how you can adapt the font size just in case that's an issue.
Anytime I want to read one of my Logos resources, I print it out. This has eliminated all my eye strain. [:P]
Randy, how appropriate a name you have for someone asking about avoiding LED back-lighting and eye strain (the letters in your last name anagram to "e-light") and that's how I read it at first when I saw it! [:)]
There was a thread discussing this very issue a few years ago and some suggestions there which you might find helpful:

Anyone have any comments on the Line Reader utility after using it for a while with Logos 5?
I am fortunate enough to have 20/15 vision and am determined to be like my forbears and not ever require reading glasses [H] - so I've given some thought to this issue.
There are glasses on the market that apparently help with this issue; haven't used them, but there are good reviews to be found.
Unfortunately, though, as far as I know, they do not help with the primary issue with eyestrain: that your eye cannot rest on a page; and have to adjust many times a second in order to focus, as described here: http://www.drgrantscomputereyes.com/what_causes_cvs.php
And really, I don't see how the current glasses help with that^.
Here's what I do. I use Logos exclusively for original language tests; and, as per this thread http://community.logos.com/forums/t/74704.aspx?PageIndex=1, I immensely prefer using printed books.
So, I use Logos (particularly iOS) as a reader by my side to check lexicons and morphological information when needed. I other words, I use Logos to complement my reading; I don't actually read on it for extended periods of time.
And when I want to do extended work on a passage, as the poster said above, I will often print it out...lol.
It's worth noting that extended computer use has lead to a very high rate (70% estimated) of adult eye strain; and it is also implicated in sleep disorders, etc.
Anyway, that's what Butters does.
Cheers!
