I'm hoping Logos or a fellow user who had this same problem found a way to overcome it and can share the solution. It's driving me nuts!

Computer: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8013ZWYXAR) tablet computer running Android version 4.1.2 (Kernel 3.0.31-813049).  It is a Wi-Fi only model with 16GB of storage and no SD card installed.

How I duplicate the problem:

  • Install Faithlife, Bible or Vyrso App
  • Just before it says "Shortcut Faithlife Created," at the end of the installation phase, the screen will dim and give a pop-up message that said "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped."
  • Touch OK on the pop-up
  • The system bar at the bottom of the screen will go away.
  • A few seconds later the system bar will came back but missing the Mini App Tray arrow it usually has in the center of the bar that opens a menu of functions and applications.
  • The dim screen and message will continue to appear intermittently/frequently while using the tablet (sometimes while it is sitting idle).
  • Problem can be duplicated most reliably by touching Home or Navigation.  When you do, the system will freezes for about 5 seconds, and then the screen will go dim and get the pop-up message.  Touch OK on the message and the system will take about 12 seconds to begin to function to the point I can launch an application.
  • The Apps seem to work okay despite these symptoms.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the apps (individually) several times and found that if I uninstall the app and reboot the system, the system functions normally and the Mini App Tray arrow returns to the System bar.  As soon as I install Faithlife, Bible or Vyrso the problem comes right back.

I did a Factory data reset which took me through the same process as when I first turned on the system and the problem went away.

I installed 11 apps of different kinds with no problems and they installed and functioned fine, and did not cause the symptoms.

But as soon as I installed one of the Logos apps, the symptoms returned.

I did some research on the problem and found a lot systems running the same OS had similar problems.  I tried a number of suggestions (clearing cache for a number of Google and system applications and the factory reset mentioned above), but none of the helped.

Based on my research it sounds like it is an OS problem but it is interesting that the Logos Apps are particularly prone to cause the problem.  They are apparently doing something or using some system resource that some of the other applications don't.
