Any plans to accomodate iOS 7 better?
Logos' native gestures for swipe up and down conflict somewhat with Control Center and Notification Center functions of iOS 7. Are there any plans to address this?
Two suggestions:
- Perhaps Logos could keep their gestures but not engage them if they start from the top/bottom of the screen, so that those gestures would only work for iOS.
- Might be a good time to reevaluate gestures vs. scrolling. I prefer page turns over scrolling, but scrolling is useful for highlights that extend beyond the page turn. 1-finger swipes up and down would be more intuitive for scrolling while 2-finger swipes would make more sense for invoking special menus, etc.
I know this is just my opinion. But with the release of a major new OS with adjustments for everyone anyway, why not reconsider now?

I note that there is setting in iOS 7 to show the notification and control centres only from the home screen and not from apps.0

I didn't notice that, thanks. I think, at least for now, I will leave it "as is." The FIRST time I tried to pull up the control center from within the Logos app, it brought it up along with a contextual menu. I could not repeat that, however. I think if the swipe is truly from THE TOP or THE BOTTOM, you are OK. I just have not not get lazy. [:)]

They really don't have to rush. I've been trying to get iOs 7 to download and it' makes Logos updates look lightning fast.

You might try it through iTunes. That is what I had to do on my phone. It was much faster. For some reason, my older iPads had no trouble.

I just came on line to report this ... 9/10 times I swipe up from the bottom, starting off the screen, and see the Logos context menu instead ... a second swipe get the control centre ....

Some questions:
- What device are you using?
- Are you in "full screen," or is the menu appearing (i.e. view settings menu "Aa" icon)?

I am using the latest generation iPad, in horizontal orientation, displaying the reading mode.
When I start my first swipe, I see an upwards arrow appear at the bottom of the screen, plus the context menu.
I can then drag this arrow up to view the control centre.
I do not see this two stage deployment in other apps but then I am struggling to think of another app that uses context menus.
Further Investigation ...
When in split mode, a swipe that ends on a bible (or other resource) that uses context menus will display the context menu, even though the swipe originated off screen..
A swipe onto my reading plan (where context menus are not used) results in the control centre working normally, and displaying first time.

When the display shows the Aa etc. then the vertical swipe works as expected, but then at that point context menus are disabled.
I wonder if menus events are triggered with a 'finger up' event, and do not trace whether the 'finger down' action was off screen.

That's what I ultimately did, but it was still very slow. Not a problem in my book, because it was 100% reliable. Every time over wifi it just would error out.
Apple needs to seriously upgrade their servers. I think that's part of their strategy, but they weren't ready for this time around. There is a whole generation of users who live off their tablets and phones. They don't use conventional desktop/laptops to tether their mobile machines.
