To get a highlight in a floating window, only Ctrl+K works. The initial click on a highlighting style, with floating window text selected, does not apply a highlight.
Richard,
Based on what you wrote, I can't duplicate. Could you give more detail.
I tried with highlight window floating and texted docked and with highlight window docked and text floating.
I'll report it if you can give more details that might unlock what you did and, if I can't replicate, how we're different.
I'm running on Vista.
Chris
Seems to work OK now ... not sure what was happening before!
ThanksRichard
I've been having the same trouble. My Highlighting Panel is always docked. If I float a panel like a commentary (it may already have some highlighting which does not disappear), and then want to highlight some text, I cannot get the text to highlight by clicking on any of the Solid colors in the Highlighting Panel. (I haven't tried any other markup choices.) It will highlight the last color used if I use the Ctrl-K shortcut, but sometimes I want to change colors. Oddly enough clicking on Erase does work in the floating panel. I can work around the bug by randomly choosing a word in any docked window and applying the desired color and immediately erasing it, then going to the floating panel and applying that color with Ctrl-K. But that method takes too much time if I'm doing a lot of highlighting. I think the highlighting should work the same whether a panel is docked or floating. Although I have tried to get it to work in several different sessions, it consistently does not work. Thanks for your help.
I never tried this but I'll tell you what I find irritating...is when you have focus on the floating window...you highlight some text...go to the highlight pallet, and the floating window disappears because it's lost focus...
grrr....
How about a "pin" feature ala Onenote? (always on top)
