(BUG) iPad resources updates lock free HD space

Hello,

In the process of updating my iPad to iOS 7, I lost all my downloaded contents, and so I reinstalled logos app on iPad. My SURPRISE was big when I got 1GB more of space free on my iPad.

Finally I discovered that everytime I use the resources update function in logos app, the app probably keeps a cache space of downloads locked on the iPad, and so everytime I use this function I lose kind of 100-200MB of free space.

I didnt try again to delete and reinstall everything because I have too many GB on my logos app, but I think it can be a BUG to correct with easyness (at least I hope so!).

Wish you a good start of week, Paolo.

    Welcome to the forums! [:)]

I am unsure how you came to your conclusion. Can you provide more details? How large is your HD? How many downloaded resources do you have? How much space does Logos take up?

I tried twice, to be sure, so far.

I closed all apps on my iPad (16gb no-3g, last generation) and I checked the free hd space on iPad, about 400MB the first time and about 300MB second time.

Then I opened Logos app and I clicked on update all resources. The second time, while the update was working, I checked how hd space was affected.

Then I closed Logos app, and checked again the size, and both times the final hd space was 100-150MB less then before.

I owe about 3.000 resources, which I've downloaded 2.200 on iPad, for a grand total of 7.5GB. Before I updated to iOS 7 my logos app was sized 8.5GB, and after I reinstalled everything from scratches, it became 6.8GB. I guess now, the 1.7GB was just temporary stuff.

This sounds similar to the (old) discussion at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/40273.aspx

I am unaware of Logos commenting on this

Out of curiosity... are you without wifi in your "day to day" activity? I strongly recommend against downloading so many resources, especially if your theory is correct! Often the best solution for problems with the app is a clean install. This is simple when you have a small amount of resources to download... but is a big deal when you have to download over 2000 resources! I know that some of my forum friends are in situations where they go weeks at a time without internet... In that case, I fully understand having so many books downloaded. [:S]

I have no wifi since I go out in the morning to work, till evening when I come back home. Some days I come back home late in the night, so no wifi at all all day. Plus I'm so happy to know in my pocket I have thousands of "bible books" so anytime anytopic, I can open it and study :-)

    Understandable. [:)]

My caution still remains... the best fix for many issues is a clean install. If your theory is right (and at first glance it appears so), having so many downloaded resources may exacerbate the problem. If you don't have many downloaded books, you wont have many to "update." I have about 100 downloaded resources, and it is very rare for me to have to update books. [Recently, there have been a number of updates to several bibles & reverse interlinears, so I have had MANY updates for those few resources in the past month]
