5.2 beta 2: New Tab Panel - missed opportunity

I was excited to read that you were improving the panel when opening a new tab. I'm afraid it's not really an improvement.
The main problem is that all the useful links are in the tiny right side of the panel, whereas the right side of the panel is full of useless resources. Take a look at the screenshot below. The right-hand side is actually useful, the left-hand side is a hodge-podge of randomness.
If you want to show me my most recently opened resources (and I'm not sure why you should), please, please move them to the small right hand column (and label them appropriately), and move the useful parallel resources to the main left hand column.

Additionally, could they be grouped?

Like that description [8-|] With a small panel, the situation is almost completely hopeless:

The new tab alone seems to have an effect on the placement of new panels/tabs opened from the menus, Command bar, or links under the new 'scheme'. I was interested to try it but it isn't useful.

I actually disagree. I like having the parallel resources available and also like having the hodge-podge of randomness which is really just the most recently opened windows and resources.
Most of the time when I am looking to open a resource from scratch it is a resource I have recently worked on. I like how both are available and I do not think that the small icons on the right are difficult to access. Whereas if the hodge-podge of randomness were put on the right it would be harder to figure out.
I do think that a search bar on the top of each panel that would let me quickly find the resource I was looking for would be helpful. The search bar should search through recent resources and windows on the right and if something is typed which is not contained in the recent files then it should search the whole library. The same function should occur on the right bar, searching first through parallel resources and then through the whole library.
