I am new to Logos, trying to do a search for prophecies of Jesus that are in the Old Testament. Any help is appreciated!
Hi Joe - and welcome to the forums.
Do you mean that you are looking for passages in the Old Testament which - in some way - are prophetic with regard to Jesus?
If so, I think this will be a difficult thing to search for as there are a range of different views as to what is prophetically referring to a coming Messiah and what isn't.
As an example - in Matthew 2:5 we have the chief priests and scribes explaining that the prophet Micah said that the ruler would be born in Bethlehem.
But there isn't any obvious search (that I can think of) which would find this reference to Micah 5:2 unless you already knew what you were expecting to find.
If anyone else can think of a way of doing this I am sure they will comment!
You might find another alternative is to look at resources which talk about the prophecies of a Messiah and see how well they address what you are looking for.
To help advice on appropriate resources can you let us know which Logos base package (if any) you have?
Graham
Many thanks Graham, using Logos 5 Gold
"Do you mean that you are looking for passages in the Old Testament which - in some way - are prophetic with regard to Jesus?" yes, this is exactly what I'm trying to get, all the prohecies of the coming Messiah in the OT.
Hi Joe,
My program is indexing right now so I am unable to fully vet the advice I have to give. A simple approach is to give a try searching a book I found on Vyrso. I cannot fully endorse my selection as it is among the purchases I made that is indexing. It is really quite affordable and therefore it is a no brainer for me. Check it out https://vyrso.com/product/21012/100-prophecies-fulfilled-by-jesus
I do have other choices, but since I cannot confirm that they will fully fill your needs I will check back and see if you will benefit. My last bit of advice is to search on Amazon for Messianic prophecy. I think you will find affordable DTBs.
My frustration as may well be yours is that there are no easily approachable scholarly books on this important topic.
Peace to Joe and Beloved! *smile*
Here's one of my favourite books! Right to the subject, also! A wee bit expensive though, but an excellent book

Edit:
Also, here's another great one .............. it may be part of a package since I don't see it at Logos.com --- In other words, various package owners may already own this one -- it's a wonderful harmony ..
Old Testament Quotes in the New Testament

This set of parallel passages was derived from cross-reference information contained within the Holman Christian Standard Bible, New Testament.
Back at Joe and a holy kiss to my friend Milford,
You read my implied recommendation like a book. [:)]
I was about to enter an edit for a real no brainer and one that I'm sure is in most if not all base packages. Nave's
Seach prophecy and oodles is your reward also messianic psalm's yield rewards.
Hi Joe
To add to the other suggestions, https://www.logos.com/product/17276/the-promise-plan-of-god might provide some useful insights although it isn't in the Gold package.
Graham, Beloved, Milford, many thanks to you gentlemen; all of your suggestions are quite helpful to me!
Peace, Joe! *smile*
I also, along with Graham and the others, welcome you to the Logos Community Forums!
We've found Logos Bible Software to be absolutely superb and hope you do also.
Of course, there' quite a learning curve involved, so let us know where you need a boost or encouragement, and we'll be glad to give it and to point you in a good direction! *smile*
Joe,
Your generosity has inspired me to press further. This resource is also in most packages https://www.logos.com/product/1214/the-new-treasury-of-scripture-knowledge
Look for the Subject heading then navigate to Prophecy, Messianic First and Second Advent. I think you will find this helpful.
These three resources, available in Logos, treat this topic at great length:
Hodgkin, Alice Mary. Christ in All the Scriptures. Redding, CA: Pleasant Places Press, 2004.
Geisler, Norman L. To Understand the Bible Look for Jesus: The Bible Student’s Guide to the Bible's Central Theme. Eugene, OR: Wipf and Stock Publishers, 1979.
Walvoord, John F. Jesus Christ Our Lord. Galaxie Software, 2008.
There is another cool feature of L5 that makes this exercise a joy; Cited By it can be found under Tools. You can link Nave's your preferred bible and Cited By together and search your library with collections you have made and selected in your Panel Menu under the heading; Show Collections.
If you don't know how to make a collection I urge you to study this wiki and start making some http://wiki.logos.com/Collections#Creating Imagine searching your favorite commentary or bible dictionary or author for every instance that your chosen scripture is "cited by" them. [H][8-|]

Welcome [:D]
One idea is searching entire library for articles about fulfilled prophecies:
prophecies WITHIN 2 WORDS fulfilled
For clause search, right clicked on a known messianic passage in Lexham Hebrew Bible to see tagging for various words, then did a clause search.
Keep Smiling [:)]

I knew there had to be a way to use a clause search but I could not get it to work. Your first suggestion is also solid!
Thanks KS4J

KS4J,
How do you know which Search fields to pan? As you know, it is critical to paring down hits and controlling for relevance.
Solved!! Many humble thanks to all of you gentlemen. Let me share what I learned. I saw an article by Morris Proctor on the homepage and clicked it. Well, as I read down the post, there was an area on the right hand side of the page labeled "Similar Posts" and one of the posts listed was "Logos 5: Old Testamenmt prophecies about Jesus" It turns out that to find what I was after, I needed to use the Sermon Starter Guide, not the Search function. It is a great blog post by Mr. Proctor!!
Again, many thanks to you all!
Hey, Joe! Blessings! Thanks for sharing! Hope to see you on the forums now and again!
That's a great start from the Logos Blog! Indeed! I hadn't seen it yet!
A good starting place for you, methinks! When you want to build on that, please consider coming over to this group ...

Kevin Becker has done a wonderfully incredible labour of love and has shared that with us! *smile*
There are a couple of files there to download into your Logos 5, marking your O.T. with New Testament Fulfilment! It is glorious!
Make a note and we can talk about it later when you're ready, eh? *smile* Peace!
Great work Joe!
Your success is a blessing to us all. It demonstrates the power of individual effort when well motivated and the flexibility of the program.
Thanks!
