IPad Anchor Bible Dictionary-Finding words/searching
How do you find words & definitions within the Anchor Bible Dictionary on the I Pad? For example, I can find the Anchor Bible Dictionary in my library and I can find the index but how do I find a word and its definItIon?
Thanks,

It seems a bit hit and miss navigating around AYBD on my iPhone. I may be doing something wrong, but I've noticed that in the past this dictionary seems more clunky than others to get around.
- I typed "faith" into the reference box, and it took me to an article on faith. [Y]
- I typed "Jesus" into the reference box, and it took me to an article on Jeremiah. [I checked the index and there is an article of Jesus!] [:S]
- I typed "Yahweh" into the reference box and nothing happened. [I checked the index and there is an article on Yahweh!] [N]

There is definitely a problem here, most likely with the way this resource is indexed for mobile. I'll write up a case - thanks for the report!

I reported this in the iOS beta forum in June (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/71935.aspx). I guess it got missed by Logos. Bruce Roth makes some good observations there.

Looks like this is still an issue. I typed "Jesus" in the entry box, and was also taken to Jeremiah... in the NET Bible! I typed "Mark 1" and was taken to the middle of Mark 6.

Any update on when this might be fixed?

This is still not totally fixed. Will it be?

I'm just guessing, but I think it may be a priority.
Let's see. October, November, December. Then there was January. February was after that. March Madness. April Fools came and went. Hmm, the forum's excited about the up and coming Logos6.
Actually, for a long time AYBD's tags were hit and miss. You really couldn't just type in something. I think when Logos put in the choices, the PC/Mac version got cleaned up. I wonder if AYBD is too monstrous, tag-wise.

Maybe so. Does Logos staff not weigh in here often? Would be glad to hear from someone on this....

The Reference field is for navigating a resource, not for searching a resource. Jeremiah is the closest reference location the app could determine; Jesus starts with "Je" and Jeremiah is the only book of the Bible that starts with "Je". If you accidentally misspelled Jesus as Joses, the book of Joshua would open since it starts with "Jos". However, if you simply typed "Jo" the app will do nothing since there are five books of the Bible that start with "Jo".
I typed "Mark 1" and was taken to the middle of Mark 6.
I can't reproduce this issue - when I type "Mark 1" it takes me to Mark 1. Please see here: http://screencast.com/t/Dus40k7F

Thanks for the reply, Kevin--the reference issue may have been fixed since I posted a while ago (I'm not near my iPad to check).
You mention that the reference field is for navigating a resource--does that mean that if I typed in a term that was in a major section heading, I could be expected to go there? It does seem that Anchor takes you to entries (e.g., "Faith," etc.).
