Get rid of free books on Logos Android

It would be greatly appreciated if the developers were able to get rid of the free books that "appear" in your library on android devices. I can't tell you how annoying this is as I try and navigate through the list to find the book that I actually want and own. I am actually quite close to just deleting the app on  my android devices I find it so frustrating (if it was 1 or 2 free books I wouldn't mind, BUT IT IS 60 ODD!!!)

Thanks

Hi Jonathan - and welcome to the forums.

I understand what you mean but I doubt if this is something the developers will be able to do.

Some people will want access to these free books - and the other free books - which Logos make available and I doubt if there is anything in the software which knows the actual price of the resources anyway.

The best I can think of is to sort your library by "Most Recent". That way the free books would, eventually, move towards the bottom of the list and not be as much in your way.

    Hope this helps

Actually, I think something can be done about this.  We now have an option to download resources for offline viewing or to remove the downloaded files so they are only listed in the library when you are online.

An option often asked for has been to hide resources from the library in the mobile apps.  We have that feature in the PC and MAC versions of Logos (which syncs to the mobile devices for all Logos mobile applications), but we should have a similar option on the mobile devices so people without a PC or MAC can do the same thing.  Resources that were marked "Hidden" could be listed in a "folder" that contains the list of hidden resources so they can be restored to the library when the user wants them again.  "Hidden" resources should not have the file downloaded to save space on the device.

My wife uses Vyrso on her iPad to read novels and was frustrated that books she had read were still in the library.  I loaded Logos on her PC so she could hide them there which removed them from her Vyrso library.  They are available any time she wants them back in her library.  Inconvenient for her, but impossible for someone without a PC or MAC.

Jonathan - Graham's suggestion is one used by many people and it does work.  Here is another way to manage your library list that may or may be easier to use.  It is an inconvenient workaround and probably isn't practical if you have a lot of resources you want available in your library, but it allows you to sort the resources whichever way you like.  I use this method in the Vyrso, Faithlife and Bible apps on my Android phone and tablet.

    • Download the resources you want in your library
    • Make sure the resources you don't want in the library are NOT downloaded.
    • When you want to select a resource from your library, turn off your internet connection and the library will only display the downloaded resources.
    • After selecting the resource you want, turn on your internet connection so you have full functionality.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Tim

Download the resources you want in your library

Great suggestion - but the problem is that the resources to which Jonathan is referring are only available when online. They are made available for access but not for download.

Neither are they visible in your Logos 5 library - assuming you have one unless purchased separately - so can't be "hidden" either.

But the basic outline you suggest does work well - I suggest a modification below

    1. Download the books you actually want to your device
    2. use the filter "local:" in your library which will then only show downloaded resources

This gets round having to turn off Internet to view the resources.

A much better suggestion than mine - assuming Jonathan doesn't want to download more books than he can manage from a storage perspective

    use the filter "local:"

Thank you, Graham.  I forgot about that filter. I remember now reading about it a while back, but since I didn't have my tablet then it went the way of other handy tidbits of info not used.

I still hope Logos will consider a hide function on mobile apps.
