Eerdmans Bible Reference Bundle (309 vols.)

It's not been blogged about yet, but there's a huge new bundle up on the products page - 309 volumes from Eerdmans for $2,879. There are some fantastic volumes in there, including several by Richard B. Hays, James Dunn, D. A. Carson, Robert Gundry, Walter Brueggemann and many more. It also includes The Book of Acts in its First-Century Settings (5 vols), which is a steal at $99.

Even better, the are smaller sets for those who can't afford or who don't want the entire bundle.

The price is obviously high, but it works out at about 2.5c per page, which is very good when you think about it. Baker's equivalent bundles were more than 3c per page on pre-pub, and Zondervan's were 3.5c. Well done Eerdmans for undercutting Baker by 17% and Zondervan by 29%!

Yes I see that now but that is a bit odd.. I mean a one volume commentary placed into a multi volume collection. I am sure they are all good volumes but it is the one Volume that I am interested in.

Looks like if you add up the prices of the individual titles and collections listed seperately the total is just over $2000 more than the bundle price, so about 40% free if there are enough of these collections and individual items to tempt you to take the plunge on the full bundle deal.... [:-*]

My take is that it will take most of us most of the rest of the month to go through the individual descriptions and reviews to see what we might like or not. But we only have until December 2nd before prices go up.

Maybe we need to lobby for a special payment plan (not usually available for pre-pubs) ?

Yes. It is better to cancel an order than to get in late. I was wishy-washy on the Baker Academic Biblical Reference Bundle and ended up getting in on it at the higher price just before it shipped.

It's written by evangelicals associated with Tyndale House, Cambridge. It takes the historicity of Acts seriously - which is the point of the series in some ways - and provides additional historical background information that is both interesting and helpful to interpreters. The series is quite varied - some volumes are monographs, others are collections of essays. I have the series in print, and value every volume. There are several reviews in Logos' journals:

Very nice. But they still haven't split out Eerdman's Commentary on the Bible, so some people are going to be disappointed still.
