I just loaded a copy of my Logos 5 on a new Windows 8.1 desktop and it did open and index all my books. However, now it will not open from the desktop icon or any other way. What should I do in order to coax it to open? :-)
Please enable diagnostic logging and upload logs as per https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/windows/problem

To fix the problem delete the file C:\Users\Rich\AppData\Local\Logos5\Data\f3rdmyxc.rjx\UpdateManager\Updates.db and restart Logos.
Dave, I deleted the file indicated and restarted Logos. It prepared my library for well over an hour, but it seemed like it was going to load. When the home page finally flashed on the screen I got the immediate message that "Logos Bible Software 5 has stopped working." Windows closed the program. I'll include a screen shot although I doubt that you need it.
Now what can I do?
Dave, I tried opening Logos a couple more times and on the second attempt it actually loaded the home page. See screen shot below. However, it still froze and Windows closed it down again.

I need to see new logs to diagnose what is happening now.
As a workaround (after repeating the crash/freeze) try opening Logos with CTRL key held and log onto a blank layout. You could then change your Program Settings (Tools menu) to not load the Home page, which means creating a layout.

From this you need to delete this folder --> C:\Users\Rich\AppData\Local\Logos5\Data\f3rdmyxc.rjx\Updates
Dave - I don't want to get prematurely happy, but it looks like this fix worked. I deleted the indicated file folder and viola . . . Logos loaded and is working normally. I was going to close it and reload it, but some updates are coming in right now and I don't want to interrupt that. I'll let you know if any more problems crop up.
