Help! How do you change resource for second pane?

This problem is driving me insane. It seems like it should be so simple, in fact the online help page for multiple panes even makes me more upset because it doesn't match what I'm seeing on the iPad app. When you open the secondary pane, there is *no* apparent way for me to change the resource.. Why?? I should be able to do so just like on the primary pane.

I'm having to do the most funky workarounds to move resources from left to right. The WORDsearch app does this with such ease, tell me I'm missing something.

Why do we always find the answers ourselves right after asking others for help? A lesson in humility I suppose. For those of you who may find this in the future, the trick is to ACTIVATE the pane you want to change and then select the change resource button. That one button controls the media on both panes.

Yeah, I've asked this same question awhile ago .. but the "android support" CHOSE to ignore it.

I agree with you... choosing a resource for the second screen on the bottom is tricky.. because you have to tap the bottom screen first..THEN..tap on the resource button on the top left corner.

very annoying, they could have put that same resource button on the bottom-second screen also.

Plus, when you just open the app.. when you start opening a new resource.. often we don't know which window will open the new resource. There should be consistency when opening a new fresh resource upon opening the app itself.

Yea Mike, I about lost my marbles trying to figure it out, hah! How childish of me. Nonetheless I'm a young IT pro, and that was far to obscure. just my two cents... add a second button!

Being able to demo logos on my iPad has generally been a joy, I'm planning on getting my starter package for Christmas.

You might have missed Drew's response here but since his was a general group response (which we don't typically do and is easy to miss specific answers in) I'm sorry if we didn't get back with you properly.

I think the intent was to have a single place to change resources, while indicating which pane has the focus as well as attempting to be consistent across various form factors. The app on the iPhone makes the inactive pane darker so it's more obvious, but on the iPad the menu items at the top panel appear to indicate the active panel. I'll write up an inquiry case for this.

Plus, when you just open the app.. when you start opening a new resource.. often we don't know which window will open the new resource. There should be consistency when opening a new fresh resource upon opening the app itself.

The app remembers the last active panel before it was closed, and so new resources are opened in that panel. I can see what you're saying, however and will ask the dev team tomorrow about it.

Again, I apologize if we didn't respond the first time but it's always a good idea to start a new thread if you run into any problems. New thread = high visibility.

but yeah ... changing resources when you have 2 windows open is a weird experience.. specially when in the church hearing the sermon where you have to open the resources quickly. Adding a button for the bottom panel to open a resource would be a great update ..

Also, if we could have top panel open first whenever we open a new resource upon opening the app. I don't know about other people, but normally I would have the ESV bible open for the top panel, but sometimes.. upon opening the app.. when I'd like choose a verse of a bible .. I ended having 2 ESV bibles open (top & bottom)

also, may I request that the font for the library be made smaller..

for handheld devices with small screen.. it is very hard to read the whole title of the books, because sometimes the titles are very long..and we couldn't choose which is which.. unless we "memorize" the cover book! Please give us the option to resize the font for the resource-library titles.

lastly,

I always have problems opening books that I've downloaded locally to the android device, specially when I have bad reception!

I don't have problems when I turn off the WiFi and the data signal.. the downloaded books opened fine..

But when the cell reception is 1-2 bars.. opening a downloaded book in the android devices is very very slow (even-though they're downloaded locally already)

I will create a case for this as well, but if you would please create a new thread in the Android forum for this issue. Other Android customers might be seeing the same problem and they might not read of (and have addition input towards) your experience here in the iPhone/iPad forum.

Don't be sorry... [:)] However, a new thread for every distinct issue is highly encouraged on these forums. We won't cut off your forum access if you find too many bugs - rather, we encourage it and value your input. BTW, using "BUG:" at the beginning of every forum thread that is a potential bug is encouraged as well.

The main thing is creating a new thread for every problem. If several bugs are mentioned in a single thread it makes it hard for us to keep track of things. In the same way we've already let you down by responding to multiple issues (including yours) in a single response, which is kind of the same thing.

I consider the issues you've pointed out here as valid: library resource font size and poor network reception problems even if resources are already downloaded. Both of those issues deserve a thread each, if you have time.

In any case I will write these issues up tomorrow for our dev team and I really appreciate your interest in improving our mobile apps.!

Is there any plan for a tab-based layout on mobile devices? Even Chrome on my phone has multiple tabs, of a sort, let alone Safari on an iPad.

Multiple panes is nice for two resources that you want to keep in sync and at a glance look at each. But it's of no help when I want to be in 6 different resources. The only way to do that is history or revisit the library.

Multiple tab interfaces are well understood at this point and to me would be a huge improvement in our ability to really use our library on these form factor devices.

I know I'm late to the party on this thread, but I was amused by the comment. Our Phoenix users group discussed a similar issue for the desktop version. It is sometimes hard to tell which pane on the desktop will host a newly opened resource.

So the proper answer here might be: "The non-deterministic behavior is to maintain consistency with the desktop version of Logos 4/5." [:)]

I don't think you're late to the party. Right on time. In another thread earlier, I whined on this exact same issue. So now I know (1) don't hit the top-left button at all (unlike PaperWhite), instead hit the text area for the desired pane (but not the text). At that point one turns grey. Not that one. Then use the controls at the bottom; not the ones at the top.

I agree with the OP on this thread ... in church, playing Logos' version of Zelda is not easy. But the group of Logos apps are great for just reading.
