Unwanted Resources (aka 'stuff' !)

I have just created an account for one of the twins. He is still quite young but I wanted him to have a bible reader on an iPad and Logos seems to be a better long term bet than one of the free ones ...

I set up his account from my mac, and bought the ESV, together with a few 'free' resources (Faithlife).

When he logs onto Bible! using the pad ... he sees all sort of 'stuff' in his library that was not bought ... e.g. 1881 Westcott-Hort Greek New Testament,  a russian bible etc.

So how do I get rid of this other 'stuff'?

I have tried setting up a new user on my mac, using his ID and logos, with a view to using the desktop software to hide 'the stuff' ... but according to his desktop library he only sees what I bought for him. Therefore I presume that this is an iPad issue ...

Thanks.

That's right Martin. You're seeing the free resources anyone who downloads the iOS app can access without having bought a single Logos resource.

I don't know whether you can lock them or remove them, sorry! I suspect you can't, and that there an inherent part of the iOS app!

You can't. The best you can do is to download the resources you want him to see and then filter the library by using the local: syntax. NOTE: You will still see the LEB bible, as this is integrated into the app and cannot be removed.

    Hi Martin

Paul is right in his explanation of what is happening.

What I suggest you do is go into the Logos desktop environment you have set up for his account and tag the resources you want him to see with a unique tag (maybe his name)

Then in the Library panel in the Bible! app insert a filter "mytag:tagname"

That way he will only see the resources which you have tagged

    Hope this helps

EDIT: Or you could do what Alabama suggested[:)]

Martin ... one detail might be helpful ... was it your previous iPad (with your account etc) or a new iPad? (The problem you mention, assuming indeed 2 accounts sounds like an issue when they programmed the L5 library field for mobiles. Just a guess. Also assuming you own the greek resources.)

Thanks Folks ... I had heard of this on Android and Windows machines ... where costs are subsidised by 'pre-installing' stuff ... but not with Logos.

I will try to work out how to ring tech support from the UK and see what they say ... the LEB I can live with (reluctantly) but the rest? ... I will see what other apps offer (or rather do not offer!)

I do not know if this how it is supposed to work ... but I was downloading the app and then registering an existing account with existing purchases ... it was not a new install followed by 'create an account'. If you are correct Paul, then maybe there is also a bug here ...

This is how it is designed to work.

See FAQ at https://www.logos.com/support/bible/iOS/FAQ - section on free books.

It is intended to provide some basic resources when someone registers for an account but the resources are also made available to those who have existing purchases from Logos. These resources are - typically - only available online, not when offline and can't be downloaded.

As Graham said, there is no bug, and no reason to call customer service for this one. Sorry! [:S]

Another option: Use another one of the Logos apps. If you goal is ONLY for a reader, try using Vyrso.

Slightly off topic - but the best way to contact tech support is to use Skype. IMHO
