Considering a Mac and Logos

I am considering moving from a PC to a Mac. I will need Bible software.

I have been using Biblesoft for several years. I am considering Logos for a Mac.

I mainly use the concordance search function and I like having multiple translations to easily compare.

How many translations come with Logos?

Is the concordance function easy to use and fairly comprehensive in search results?

Welcome to the forums!

Logos greatest strength is as a digital library. The software is free... You purchase resources (books) and data sets, which are needed to make many of the features work. Often this is accomplished through purchasing a "base package," which provides both resources and data sets. To answer your first question about translations: It depends.

As for the concordance question... I don't use OL tools often, but many users do. Many translations have reverse interlinears available when you purchase a base package (or "minimal cross grade"). This allows you to "right click" on a word and bring up the underlying original language word. You can choose to open to a concordance or lexicon from there.

Yes, you can readily find where an original language word or English word is used and restrict the search to a book(s) of the bible e.g OT, NT, Torah, Gospels. And you can easily compare translations side by side.

I'm a Mac user and love Logos on Mac. One advantage of Logos is that once you purchase a base package you get both windows and Mac. So if you have both you could load it on both machines or just 1. Logos gives you a licenses that allows you to load it on any of your computers so your not stuck with just one. The also have iOS and Android apps that are free and sync with your library, so in my opinion Logos is a great way to go. Oh yea and Mac to

Logos has Bible Word Study that can show word usage (and range of translation). Concordance resources are also available for purchase.

My favorite Logos feature is visual filter highlighting that combines hundreds of search results for simultaneous display so can contextually "see" range of original language verbal expression. I am considering moving from a PC to a Mac.

I just moved from PC to Mac. It is quite a switch but I am glad I did. I love my MacBook Pro.

My only comment is that some people have stability issues running Logos on Mac. I am one of them. If you read around here on the forum, you can find out more. Having said this, right now I have fewer problems but a few week back, I considered installing a virtual machine to run Logos for Windows on my Mac.
