Using Android Beam in new Android App

I just browsed

and read "Android Beam—devices with near field communications (NFC) capability will now be able to beam references, books, and notes when placed back to back with other NFC-capable devices."

How do I move a book from one Android to another? Was this a miss-print? If not how do I do this? Is this only to another Android I own or can I share a book with someone else?
I have transferred photos using it so know a little.

The Logos web page issued yesterday states specifically that >>devices with near field communications (NFC) capability will now be able to beam references, books, and notes when placed back to back with other NFC-capable devices<<

The link you gave included a speculation that it is a possibility if Logos ever decided to allow transfer of books.

The web page phraseology seems to either mean that books can now be transferred now OR that the app now has the capability and that Logos intends to allow books to be transferred in the near future. I presume that it is the latter which is something I was not aware of.

Here's how the feature currently works. When you initiate a Beam from Device A to Device B:

If Device A viewing anything other than a resource:

If Device B already has the app installed, the app will open
If Device B does not have the app installed, Google Play will open to the app page

If Device A is viewing a resource:

if Device B owns that resource, Device B will open the resource to the same location as Device A
If Device B does not own that resource, Device B will navigate to the store page so the resource can be purchased

As far as I know, this is all the behavior that is currently planned for this feature.
