Personal Books?
I'm excited to begin digging into the Word of God with L5. I like the idea that we can share our PBB's with others. With that said, does that mean we may be seeing our PBB's within the iPad/iPhone app (and Android too) anytime soon? Logos, that would be really neat. Hint, hint

This would be a feature that would please A LOT of mobile app users - me included! I believe this feature has been promised at some stage, but I haven't seen any indications as to how quickly it might be implemented. I think it's just a case of watch this space ( - unless another forum user can chime in with more up to date info.)

I think someone posted before that Logos has 2 main concerns about this:
1. Copyright/Legal issues
2. Disk space utilization
I think the legal issues are similar to having them in the PC/Mac versions of the software so, it should not be a major concern.
Relating the disk space utilization, I would suggest Logos impose a size limit to PBB per user so, they can estimate/project disk space utilization in a worst or average case scenarios.
If Logos for iOS / Android / Kindle supports synchronization for PBBs there would be a lot of Logos users very very happy, me included!!!

Until PBB books are available within Logos on the Ipad, there is a good work around. You can read your PBB resource in iBooks, dynamically link to the Logos bible references or resources on the Ipad, then swipe back.
Personal Book Builder on the Logos 4/5 desktop creates URL references such as logosref:BibleESV.Ps119.1-5 that work on the IPAD! After you create the PBB book in the Logos 4/5, export to WORD and output to HTML or PDF and save to Dropbox. Both are easily accessed on the IPAD from Dropbox using the viewer or the PDF works well in iBooks and allows for bookmarks and search.

Danny, you can also put links in Pages and have them open Logos on the iPad. I'm sure the same would work for PDF's or anything that can contain a hyperlink. That would save you from having to create a PBB just to export it so that you would ahem hyperlinks.

You are correct that the IPad will link to Logos from any document with correctly structured hyperlinks, but they need to be manually created. The beauty of PPB documents exported is that they automatically create correct hyperlinks to both bible references or other resources contained in the PPB. Saves a lot of time!0

Next,
Use the PRINT/EXPORT (Cntrl+P) function within the Logos 4/5 resource to retain formats and hyperlinks. Export to Dropbox and read on IPAD. I like to use pdf format and read on IPad using IBooks for quick swipe navigation to LOGOS from hyperlinks.
Basically, you start with a Word document, change to PBB, Export to Word, change to PDF, export to IPAD and read with IBooks. The hyperlinks jump to your IPAD Logos as the following link if you are reading on an IPAD: logosref:BibleESV.Ps119.1-5

The difference between having possibly-copyrighted PBB books on your desktop and synching them to your iPad is that in the former case, Logos isn't participating in any possible copyright violation, any more than a pen and paper manufacturer would be responsible if I hand-copied my own version of Tom Wright's Paul book.
If Logos facilitates synching, though, they're actively mediating the hypothetical copyright violation (especially if that mediation involves even temporary storage on their servers).
That being said, I'm eager to get my PBB copies of The Golden Legend and Egeria's Travels onto my iPad.

There are a few options in my view.
1. Treat the PBBs as regular Logos book that is saved on the Logos servers for searches and what not.(which I think Logos is working on).
2. Do NOT save the PBB on the Logos servers at all. Instead use the Logos backend as the engine that prepares the PBB for the correct format to be used in the mobile device. I this case if I want a PBB on my device I would go to the desktop interface and use the Library desktop interface "Download to.." to start the process of pushing the PBB to the device.
3. Do NOT save the PBB on the Logos server at all. Instead change the desktop version of the Logos prepare the PBB for uploading to the mobile device in the required format and use the Library desktop interface "Download to.." to start the process of pushing the PBB to the device.
4. Combination of 1 and 2 or 1 and 3. In this case the user would decide in what way he/she wants to use a PBB..
Most people would be happy with 2 or 3. It would give us the option of getting the PBBs on our devices so we can read and do simple searches and it would save Logos the headache of storing them. It would also eliminate the need to set a size limit on a PBB. Even synchronizing highlights and notes should be possible without getting the Logos servers involved in storing. The Logos would be used only for getting the information from one device to the other.
