Logos often will never open correctly and becomes "Application Not Responding". Sometimes this will occur while I switch from an active window of another app to Logos.

Your Logos.log was full of meaningless error messages, which means logging was not enabled correctly. Follow the instructions at https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/mac/problem and use the Sample button.
I have followed the instructions the first time for this. I don't know why it didn't work. I have tried to follow the instructions again. Now the Logos Logging Utility reads "You must restart Logos Bible Software 5 for changes to to take effect." I have tried restarting both programs. I have tried closing all programs, rebooting, then following the directions on the website, all with no luck.
My Logos Bible Software crashes every time I use it. Please help.

Does it freeze, or crash?
It freezes and slows my computer way down until I force quit. It can stay frozen for hours. Listed at the top of this post is my first logs. I can try to get another log if you prefer.
James, Sorry you are having difficulty. My first suggestion is that you upgrade to the current stable version of Logos. Since you cannot start the application, you can download the latest version here: Download for Mac
If you still have problems after updating, tells us, and we will provide additional advice. The folks with the stars are volunteers with too much time on their hands [:D] That's why we post so much.
My installed version is 5.2.0.0086. Is there a newer version?
Yes. You are running 5.2 SR-2... the newest version is SR-3. See the link in my signature line to manually download the engine if "update now" doesn't work.

OK, I downloaded and installed the new update. On opening the program it crashed. I started the logging utility and relaunched the program. The logging utility still says I need to restart Logos. Is there a number I can call in to get some help?

The warning is only telling you that changes in the "enabled/disabled" status require Logos to restart. You should be good if you follow these steps:
