Read the Bible in a Year - question re default version
My preferred version is NKJV. However when I go to read the bible in a year it automatically defaults to ESV.
Why? And can I change it?
I am on iOS 7.0.2 with internet.
Thanks.

First, welcome to the forums! [:)]

Reading plans are resource specific. If you want to do your readings in the NKJV, you must create the plan with that resource. Do you own the NKJV?
Personally, I believe that creating plans is better within L5, so that is how I do it. Do you have L5 installed on a computer, or are you using only the mobile app with free resources?

The download button is "greyed out" because you don't own it. The app comes with about 80 resources for "online use only," but you don't actually own the license to most of those. I just tried creating a new plan from my iPad, and it defaulted to the ESV. I don't think you will be able to create a bible reading plan with the NKJV... But just to double check... You earlier wrote that the NKJV was your preferred bible. Do you mean that it is the one you prefer, or that you set it as your "preferred bible" within the app?

this is is what I see concerning the 2 versions.

so are you trying to me but I'm not getting it that I must purchase NKJV in order to read the one year plan in NKJV

Interesting - I've just tried creating a new Bible reading plan on my iPad and it used the NRSV which is my preferred Bible.
(I don't know if Alabama has ESV set as his preferred or not)
I have purchased NRSV - so I appreciate this may be a difference here - but I wouldn't have expected this to affect which Bible is used for a reading plan (but as Alabama suggests it might).
Have you checked that NKJV is set up as your preferred Bible on both the iPhone and iPad?

Thank you Graham for trying to help me. NKJV is set as preferred in both my iPhone & iPad. Great suggestion.

Then I think there is something strange going on.
I have just changed my Preferred Bible to "Luther Bibel (1545)".
This is not a Bible I own but I have access to it on my iPad as one of the free versions. As Alabama pointed out above, I can't download it as I don't own it.
However, I have just created a "read through the Bible in a year" plan and it used the Luther Bibel.
So it looks as though the preferred Bible is used irrespective of whether it is owned or not.
I think we need someone from Logos to look at your account details to see what is happening here.

Creating a new reading plan from the home page should use your preferred Bible, regardless of whether you have a license for it. We'll look into why this isn't working for you. In the mean time, you can explicitly choose a Bible to use by going to the Documents menu and creating a new reading plan document.

Thanks for confirming this.

Thanks for pointing that out - I hadn't picked up on that option.

Dave this worked fine by going to documents & creating a reading plan. I had never done that before. It defaults to NKJV.
