Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary Timeline

I used the passage guide on James 2:8-13 and the media resources produced several results. One of these was a timeline from the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary. Unfortunately, it is not usable because it is so small. The zoom feature does nothing on the image.

Is there a way to get a larger image? I have removed L3 due to hard drive space so I do not know if it worked before.

The zoom feature only slightly stretches the graphic top to bottom. This does not make it any more legible for me on the small 15" monitor my Version 4 is currently running on. I also tried the typical Explorer text enlarging but apparently the graphics are not drivem by Explorer in Version 4.

ANYBODY HAVE A SOLUTION? I am a very visual oriented learner and really want to be able to see these neat resources.

The best I can come up with is to right click the graphic

Make sure IMAGE is selected, choose SAVE AS and save the file. Then open it in a graphics viewer to zoom in. Not a very clean solution.

I think this is a bitmap scanned at too low a resolution so sending it to another program and zooming there doesn't really make it readable. It looks like the same timeline is available in the "Holman book of charts, maps, and reconstructions" and it is large enough to read in that resource. I have L3 installed but this resource doesn't show up there so I can't check it there.

The timeline and several of the maps in this resource are really poor and way to small to read. Saving them and using an image viewer does nothing as there is no usable data.

You can go to the home page and enter "time line" on the search line. Then select one of the timeline options. This opens the timeline in a large pane to the right. At this point you can drag the left side of this screen to the left which will enlarge the timeline and shrink the window to the left. Hope this helps!

Sorry to say that even making the time line take the full screen and zooming my Logitech keyboard to the max ... the timeline is still only marginally readable. Logos may need to rethink this.

Dear people at Logos,

If you would allow us to drag and drop images into Biblical People or Biblical Places, these tools allow for zooming and panning images already. Or perhaps build another instance of the tool and call it Magnify (this would fit in well with your new Logo, a magnifying glass).

I don't know if it has been fixed in the bible study layout view, but this morning I watched the video about timelines, tried typing in "timeline" in the command bar, and brought up the Holman timeline images just fine: large, good focus, even in a floating window.

Hope that helps. Just type "timeline" in the command bar instead of trying to go through the images in the search. I am not sure whether they saw this thread and fixed it, or if that is just the proper way to access this resource.

Ah, I see what you see. It's not that the Dictionary images were updated, but that the same timeline images are available in 3 difference resources:

In the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary, the images are still small and unreadable, but the same images have been scanned at a higher resolution in the other two resources (Holman Book of Biblical Charts, Maps, and Reconstructions and the Holman Bible Handbook).

So I would say, go directly to the Holman Book of Biblical Charts, Maps, and Reconstructions for those images, and skip the dictionary.

The timelines accessible through the library are not the same as the timeline in Holman (they're better in many aspects). The problem with Holman is they're just not scanned at high enough quality within the resource.

You are right...I didn't realize that I was looking at the timelines for the other resource...The Holman Book of Biblical Charts, Maps and Reconstructions. These are much better. When I clicked on the Holman Bible Handbook, they are still unreadable.
