Feedback on Notes - 4.0.13 Build 189

I'm running 4.0.13 build 189 on a 7" Kindle Fire HD.

While I'm loving the app's look & feel, for what I'm trying to do it it rapidly got so sluggish I've bailed out & gone back to my laptop.

I'm attempting study leave for the 1st time without paper books.

Topic: Romans, using NRSV & several Logos commentaries.

Process: Replace underlines (paper book) with highlights as I read.

Problem: entering notes started fairly responsively, but by 40 pages into the book it's taking so long to add each new highlight that it's impeding progress of the study leave.

Any suggestion?

There are many, many notes in my L5 library. Some are highlights only . Some aren't. Is there a way to prevent them from cluttering up Romans & further slowing the Kindle?

Thanks for any advice you can provide... I'd really prefer to use the Kindle form factor, but I just can't stand the sluggish performance!

Grace & Peace,
Bill

Sounds like you need the Fire HDX 7 with 2.2 GHz quad-core, unless you mean that the Logos app is sluggish[:D]. I don't use Notes/Highlighting so can't comment.

Are you referring to notes/highlighting sync'd from your laptop? The app has one global setting for Notes (show/no show), but is sync'ing affected by deselecting a note file from the resource in the laptop?

You could work offline in the app, but the sluggishness may return when you go back online...

Thanks for the response, Dave. Yes, notes that I did NOT create on the Kindle (& really don't want there). On the laptop, not sure what you mean by "deselecting" a note file "from the resource."

I hadn't thought of working off-line in the app... will try that once notes sync. I can "force" a sync up from the Kindle to the laptop by turning wireless off & then back on (tried that a few times to see if I could get highlights from the Kindle to the laptop; this seems repeatable). I haven't found anything yet that will force things to go the other direction, no matter how many times I sync on the laptop, the Kindle seems to be on its own schedule. And at this point, I'm so far ahead on the laptop that I'm afraid of corrupting something if I move to the Kindle. [:(]

I meant deselecting the Notes file in the tri-colour Visual filters icon. But I don't think it will affect syn'ing to the resource on the mobile device, which really needs the same resource feature.

It doesn't work as expected. Even with the setting for "Do not show notes" the notes are shown after creating a highlight/note. So it will only be effective in not sync'ing recent notes from the desktop Logos. But give it a try...
