Android Bible Word Study Stopped Working
I recently downloaded 10 to 15 (maybe more) Greek and Hebrew lexicons/dictionaries to my tablet (Nexus 7, 32GB, 2nd Generation). Prior to this download, the Bible Word Study was working fine on both my tablet and my phone (both Android). After downloading the additional resources to only the tablet, the Bible Word Study feature just clocks or spins on my tablet, but still works fine on my phone. I plugged my tablet into an electrical outlet the other day and started a Bible Word Study, hoping if I gave it long enough that it would work. I left the house for more than an hour, but when I came back I found that it failed to work.
Is there a limit of the number of lexicons/dictionaries you are allowed to download and still have it work? I was hoping this feature would work like it does on my PC. That it would quickly list summary information for 3 to 5 resources and then provide a 'more' button if you desire to explore more resources. If I need to, I guess I can delete all the additional resources off my tablet to get this feature to working again.
I own a Logos 4 Gold (or Platinum) base package and Logos 5 Minimal Crossgrade.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Mark - and welcome to the forums
This is very strange!
The BWS functionality on the mobile devices is currently limited to returning no more than three lexicon definitions - and the lexicons it chooses doesn't seem to relate to any prioritisation we have put in place on the desktop.
That it would quickly list summary information for 3 to 5 resources and then provide a 'more' button if you desire to explore more resources. If I need to
So I'm afraid this isn't currently available although it would be nice.
And, to the best of my knowledge, downloading lexicons shouldn't make any difference at all.
Couple of questions:
- What version of the Android app are you using?
- Was the tablet online and connected to the Internet when you were trying to run the BWS?

Hi Graham,
Thank you for your reply! I am using Version 4.0.13 (Build 189) of the Android app. I am connected to wifi. I receive two or three bars in most rooms of my house. In the two or three weeks that I have owned this tablet, I have only used it at home.
One thought that struck me as I thought about your wifi question is this; the day the BWS first started clocking or spinning was shortly after I started downloading the previously mentioned resources. After BWS clocked for a minute or two, I pressed the 'back' button on my tablet to get back to the bible passage I was reading. Prior to you asking this question, I always assumed that the 3 resources that the BWS had been displaying were already download to my tablet, because they usually displayed very quickly. If in fact I was accessing them via the internet, then the fact that I was already using a significant amount of internet bandwidth to download several resources could explain the BWS clocking. However, it doesn't explain why BWS is still clocking every time I use it now that those resources have successfully downloaded.
I just placed my tablet within a couple of feet of my wifi router and started a BWS. The BWS has been clocking next to my router for about the last 1.5 hours. After 30 minutes, I pressed the 'Home' button and click on chrome and looked up the score of the Pro Bowl game on ESPN. So, I know that the internet access is working. When I went back into the Logos App, the BWS was still clocking.
Under 'App Info' I see the ability to 'Force Stop', 'Uninstall', and 'Clear Cache'. Should I try taking one or more of these actions? Or is there some other tests that I can run? Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,

Hi Mark
Yes, some of the functions on the app are performed against Logos servers - these include the BWS, Passage Guide and Text Comparison.

I don't understand why you are seeing what you are seeing but I think it's worth uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Note that this will require redownloading any resources you have downloaded.

Problem solved!
I decided before 'Uninstalling' and 'reinstalling' the Logos App to try the 'Force Stop' option. 'Force Stop' solved my problem.
If anyone else needs to do this...
* go to 'Settings' (on my tablet, if you swipe down from the top, 'Setting' and a couple of other options appear)
* tap on 'Apps', which is under the heading 'Device'.
* tap on 'Bible'
* tap on 'Force Stop', then go back to the App and try it again.
Thank you for your help with this Graham! I appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Mark

I think this problem happened to me the other day...and yes, it can be fixed by quitting the app completely and re-opening it. Somehow the Bible Word Study got stuck in a state where it only showed the loading indicator. We've written up a case to investigate the issue.
