Font change of Bible Ref (NIV, Etc) when pasting from "Copy Bible Verses" into Word

Hi,

Logos Bible Software 5.2 SR-4 (5.2.0.0110)

I am having a couple of problems when using the "Copy Bible Verses" function.

My Bible Ref is coming in as 12pt instead of 10pt.

Here's an example, using the Logos 5 "Copy and Paste" button:

Jn 8:58 (NIV) “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

Notice how the Ref (NIV) is large…it is 12pt and everything else is 10pt, and Jesus' words are red.

Here's an example, using the Logos 5 "Copy" button, (pasted in Word using Crtl V):

Jn 8:58 (NIV) “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

Notice the Ref (NIV) is now 10pt like everything else, but Jesus' words are not red.

Here are all my settings for Word 2007:

"Paste between documents", "Paste between documents when Style Definitions are in conflict" and "Paste from other programs

All are set in Word 2007 Copy and Paste options to "Match Destination Formatting"

Changed Word 2007 settings to "Keep Source Formatting" using the same sequence as above.

When I copy and paste my Word 2007 in here, I'm not getting the difference in size of the Bible Ref and Christ's words in red...don't know why???

I have attached my Word 2007 file above...maybe it will show what I'm talking about.

That should be the default setting, except for "Paste between documents when Style Definitions are in conflict" (as per Word 2013).

I use the supplied style "Fully Formatted" (below) and have no problem with font size i.e. the header is one size and the verse is another size.

Hi Dave,

I don't know what you are calling the header. Is it the abbreviated Bible version call-out...NIV, NASB, etc.?

Just to clarify, the part that is 12 pt is the (NIV). Everything else is 10 pt including the book and scripture ref., i.e., Jn 8:28, and the scripture text itself.

What about not getting the words of Christ in red when I use the "copy" button and not the "copy and paste" button. Is that, do you think, due to settings within Word 2007 itself?

Did you open up the attached Word 2007 file and look at it? For some reason when I paste everything into this post it is not formatted like it is in Word. No red words of Christ for example

Also, I just tried doing the same with the NASB...got the same results.

One more thing, when I try to copy the verse Jn 8:58 in the Bible tab window, (I highlight the text, hit Ctrl C, and then paste into Word 2007 using Ctrl V) the words of Christ are not pasted in red! Word 2007 "copy and paste" settings are all set to "Keep Source Formatting". Shouldn't the verse I'm trying to copy be pasted with the words of Christ in red just like the verse has in Logos?

It is the part defined by =Header in the Fully Formatted style. This includes the version (NIV) and I get the same font size for all parts of the header. If I use your style I get the same font size throughout.

Makes no difference in Word 2013 as I still get red WOC.

I see WOC in red with both Copy methods! I also see that the (version) style is called Verse whilst the rest is Normal. In Word 2013 I have a single style - Normal.

I don't know why you get two styles, but what is the style shown in a new (blank) document in Word 2007?

Hi Dave,

I have attached a "snippet" shot of a blank Word 2007. I hope it is readable. I don't know or have any other way to attach this. Is this what you were interested in viewing?

The only thing I change when starting a new document from scratch is to use Times New Roman as my font and 10 pt. I don't change the style, I just go to the "fonts" tab on the ribbon bar and pick my font and pt size and start typing/adding from there.

I appears, since no one else has posted a similar issue (either now or thru searches I have done), that this must be something in my system.

Thanks for your input. I'll keep trying different things. If and/or whenever I come up with something, I'll post the details.

You pasted your style as:-

There are two lines with [ShortPassageRef] so I removed the one with the underline above. Now note that the line below is essentially a duplicate of =ForEachVerse and the Verse style is not applied to its output. The only way I got the Verse style to be applied was to use:-

%NoFootnotes
%NoCitation
%ForEachVerseStyle=Verse
%NoParFormatting

=Header
[ShortPassageRef] ([Version]) 

=ForEachVerse
[VerseText]

You can experiment further with this.

Some test results. I copied and used your style in your last post from above.

I also used "Paint" to do a screen capture. Maybe this will be clearer. As you can see...none of the tests resulted in much different results. Even the "Logos, Fully Formatted w/Footnotes" did not work. Bible Ref and text fonts are still not the same size.

As time allows I'll keep trying different combinations. Maybe I'll find one that will work.

Glad, only in the fact, that this is not a problem with my system.

I did a search before I did my original post, but, did not find anything. I probably didn't have the correct search parameters for it pop up.

I am sure Logos programmers will get this fixed in due time.
