Bible Word Study

I am using L5 on my MacBook Pro and on my mini iPad (1st gen). Also I am using the AV for my studies. On my laptop when I hover over a word the expected information appears which includes the Miriam Webster definition as well as the Strong's definition. However on my iPad mini when I long tap on a word I select "lookup" and the Strong's number appears along with the definition. When I further select "Bible word study" it does NOT go to the Strong's information, it gives me Miriam Webster's definition and then underneath I get the way the word is typically translated in the ESV. If I use a different tagged version other than the AV things appear as they should. I have downloaded and installed what I think are all the appropriate resources for things to display properly using the AV but it is sadly very deficient in the information displayed. Does anyone have any insight on this?

    Hi Bob

Technically you are not running L5 on your iPad. You are running the Bible! app which operates different and has reduced functionality. Not sure that is relevant here but worth flagging

Also I am using the AV for my studies

When you say you are using the AV do you mean the resource known as "Authorized Version" or the one known as "King James Version"? This is important as one of them is tagged with reverse interlinear information and the other is not

it gives me Miriam Webster's definition and then underneath I get the way the word is typically translated in the ESV

What are the relative priorities in your library of the AV, the KJV (if relevant) and the ESV?

I have downloaded and installed what I think are all the appropriate resources for things to display properly using the AV

There is no need to download anything for the BWS to work - the work is carried out on Logos servers and the results returned to the app

Thank you Graham you found the problem. I was using the AV and should have been using the King James Version instead.  Thanks.

Excellent, glad we got it sorted.

I should have investigated further. I actually thought the AV was the tagged version for some strange reason. I looked at forum history to get a clue but did not find one there so I am very thankful for your insight and help.
