Logos 5 for iPad ?

hi, I'm planning on attending bible collage and love what logos has to offer. Before i buy an iPad and the software i have a few questions that i can't seem to find an answer to. 1. Can i access all of my logos library on an iPad ? Do i get all the features of logos 5 on iPad ? Like searching a word across the bible and my library, sermon starter, timeline, etc. I guess what I'm asking is is the logos app a cool bible app with a few features or is it access to your logos 5 ? Thank you in advance !!!

No. You can access most of it but some resources are not enabled for mobile devices due to publisher restrictions.

For me - at the moment - I can see about 40 fewer resources on my iPad than on my desktop.

No - it is a cut-down version that still provides a lot of functionality.

Like searching a word across the bible and my library, sermon starter, timeline, etc

You can search a word across the Bible and throughout your library.

The Sermon Starter and Timeline functions are not available - neither are things such as Syntax Searching, Clause searching or Sentence Diagrams

It's also important to remember that some functions are only available when online - these include the Passage Guide and Bible Word Study.

I guess what I'm asking is is the logos app a cool bible app with a few features or is it access to your logos 5 ?

As you will have seen from the answers above it is not full Logos 5 functionality but I - and many others - find it very, very useful. It very much does depend on what you want to use it for.

Are there specific things you know you would want to be able to do on the mobile device?

Thank you that info helps a lot, i guess its main use would be bible study/bible research. I would like to use sermon starter and the timeline feature also. As long as I'm able to search a word/passage across the bible and my library and find original meanings/translations of words ill be fine.

Online as in the iPad needs to be connected to the Internet over a wifi or cellular network connection.

One last question, for the bronze level software it requires 30gb of free space on your computer, do you need that much free space on your iPad ?

No... Firstly, the mobile app is designed to primarily run "in the cloud." In other words, you primarily access your library while connected to the internet. You can download resources, but downloading large parts of your library should be discouraged for a number of reasons. If you are ONLY using your iPad for Logos, and not downloading tons of books, a 16GB device is sufficient. Of course, why use an iPad ONLY for Logos? You can get away with it (as I am currently doing), but I would probably get a 32 GB device next time.

I currently have a little more than 100 books downloaded, and along with my note files, Logos takes up over 1 GB.

Logos is not really the best one in studying the original language, so if that is your main interest, there are competitors which work better (ie accordance).

Logos is far better as a comprehensive network of links among books. So I often move from one source to another, as if I were in a Alexandrian Library and I could get any book any time, without putting them back. It's awesome. And it's more and more efficient and pleasing the more you get more books.

I have both two, and I go to each one for its own specialities and skill.

You really do need to sit down with a piece of paper and look at the pros and cons of purchasing an iPad or a MacBook Air.

The iPad will run the Bible App but the MacBook will run the full Logos resource. In a college setting you are likely to be needing many of the other features that a full operating system can provide.

I would suggest a ground up needs analysis - and then buy the MacBook.

I concur. I love my iPad, and use it everyday. If I could ONLY have one device, it would be a MBP.

Depends on original language study; Logos has visual filter highlighting that can combine hundreds of search results for simultaneous display so can "see" range of Greek verbal expression in Greek, English, and Spanish:

Screen shot of John 21:15-23 includes: Aorist, Future, Imperfect, Present, & Perfect tenses with Imperative, Indicative, Participle, & Subjunctive moods.

Caveat: visual filters do not work in mobile apps so personally have laptop and tablet so can run Logos 5 application.

Right, you are certainly right! I should have said "Logos for iPad is not the best to study original languages"

I dont have a computer, so for me the tablet experience is critical.
