bug in offline navigation for some books on iPhone & iPad
There is a bug in the offline navigation for the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Cassie at Logos confirmed this for me.
I cannot navigate to find anything or look up anything when off line on my iPhone and iPad.
This is very frustrating as I gave away my print version and cannot use my Logos version…

Hi Marlene - and welcome to the forums
Did Cassie indicate what Logos was going to do about this?
I've just confirmed the problem on my iPad and checked on my Android phone which doesn't show the problem. So it looks as though it's not a resource issue but one with the iPad apps.

Peace to you, Marlene! .......... and! Welcome to the Logos Community Forums where Logos Bible Software uses attempt to help and support one another ........
I'm assuming, Marlene, that when you were using Catechism of the Catholic Church - that you downloaded it to your device?
That is necessary for you to be able to use it "offline" ......
Also, as we attempt to help you find a solution, could you share what Cassie at Logos recommended, please? *smile*
Philippians 4: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........

No, Cassie did not know but reported it.

Thanks for the suggestion!
Yes, the Catechism to the Catholic Church was downloaded to both and it does not navigate on my iPhone nor iPad.

Cassie did not know how it would be fixed and didn't give me any suggestions in the mean time. She said that she would report it but had no idea as to the time frame regarding it being fixed. Thank you for trying to help me.

Hi Marlene,
This is a known issue for both iOS and Android devices with some resources (including this one) and a case has already been written up.
As a (clunky) workaround you can use the Search feature in Basic mode and specify that particular resource in your search. Also note that if this resource is downloaded, reference links do work in iOS (but they don't in Android). Please see here: http://screencast.com/t/uVjzqXL6ge

Graham,
Are you sure you were offline on your Android phone? Offline keylinks to non-Biblical milestones *shouldn't* currently work for this resource... if it's working for you I'm really curious as to why!

Hi Kevin
Sorry I was looking at more basic navigation.
on the iPad in airplane mode I was struggling to move left or right in the resource which I could on Android (I now can on iPad so don't know what was going on)
i hadn't tried linking to other references - which I remember being an issue - and doesn't work.
apologies for the confusion, Graham

Kevin,
Thank you for helping me. I will try to use the Search feature in Basic mode.
Logos has emailed me and said:
"Thank you for contacting us. I apologize for any inconvenience. This is a known bug. Development is already at work to resolve the issue and it should be fixed soon either by an application update or resource update."

I just got nailed by this. I was leading a bible study in the undercroft of a church (no wifi) and discovered the CCC on my iPad wouldn't work! A bit embarrassing as I was just talking up Verbum moments before.
Once I got back on wifi everything worked again.

Apologies - this has been an issue for a while and I'm not exactly sure when it will be fixed. It's always best to try things offline first, if possible.

Dan,
In reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church navigation not working when offline. Book is unusable.
So sorry you got stuck by this too. I know. It is frustrating and can be embarrassing.
I guess I will have to buy a print version, again. :-(
Hope they fix it soon!

Let me guess: The engine that translates paragraph numbers to book locations is online, requires a web call, and making it available offline means porting that engine to mobile?

This isn't my area of expertise, but I believe that's the gist of it.

I am a software engineer with 15+ years of experience. If this is simply an issue of resources, perhaps I can put some time into getting the problem fixed. Let me know.
