What are you using for ebooks ?
I didn't see much on the forums about vryso so i thought id start a discussion. I don't really like vryso, it doesn't seem to have a lot of titles and doesn't allow you to buy books in app. I may be missing the point to it as i havent played with it too much but from what i have heard people say they too aren't fond of it. I recently bought an iPad for the purpose of having logos and LOVE it, God is definitely working though logos. However i have a growing list of books to read and haven't been able to find an ebook app. Offline support and being able to buy books in the app are important but not a must. Im curious what set up you guys are using and grateful for any feedback suggestions or comments.

Except for Apple's own iBooks app, you won't find in-app purchase capability in ebook reader apps on Apple devices, because Apple requires that all online app purchases be done through the AppStore so Apple can take their 30% cut. Ebook margins are too thin for this, so ebook apps other than iBooks require you to visit a website in a web browser to order books. Kindle, Nook, and Logos' apps all do this.
Vyrso is just one version of Logos' ebook readers. Logos has several readers, and they all basically work the same, but have slightly different features to target different markets:
- the main "Logos" one is for general Bible study,
- "Vyrso" is targeted at mass-market Christian ebooks,
- "Faithlife Study Bible" includes study Bible features,
- "Verbum" is targeted at Catholic users
- "Noet" is targeted at Classical studies (Greek and Latin works)
All books purchased through Logos, no matter what branding, can be read on all the readers. I.e. the "Logos" app can read "Vyrso" books, and vice-versa. You can actually install all 5 different apps at the same time, but most just pick one based on the features one wants. Each app can download books for offline use, but if you have more than one app, they can't share downloaded books because of the way iOS is designed.
I mainly use the Logos app for most ebooks that I can get from either Logos or Vyrso. I also use the Kindle app for other ebooks that I only can get through Amazon. I don't bother with iBooks or Nook, since I am satisfied with the Logos and Kindle combo.

I don't really like vryso, it doesn't seem to have a lot of titles ...
Thankful for 679 free Vryso eBooks since Thanksgiving 2011 plus 15,098 more that are available to purchase.
Caveat: personally read Vyrso eBooks using Logos 5 and Verbum. Logos mobile apps do not have visual filter highlighting so my tablet runs Windows 7.

If the others didn't answer your questions, can you explain these a bit more? What list? What about "offline" (you can download books in all the Logos apps!).

Are you speaking of reading eBooks sold by Logos or Vryso? Or are you speaking of reading eBooks sold in other formats, such as epub, etc.? Personally, I appreciate Vryso, and especially the high number of free eBooks Vryso regularly gives away (as has been noted by previous posters).
I also prefer to buy eBooks for Vryso because they will appear and be searchable in my Logos library - no small advantage over other formats.
I chose to read Vryso books in my Logos 5 software because my tablet runs Logos 5. So why take up hard drive space with another Logos reader app. But if my tablet did not run Logos 5, I would use the appropriate Logos app for my operating system. They all get the job done. For any non-Logos format (epub or whatever) I like the Nook app best because it is simple to side-load books from various sources into the app, and it reads very well.

Im not quite sure what you mean by format, I'm talking about books by pastors such as Mark Driscoll, Matt Chandler, Francis Chan, etc. not so much biblical commentaries like i see in logos. Logos does biblical commentaries and the like better than anyone. From the little i played with vryso it seemed if you wanted to read anything under 400 pages vryso wasn't for you.

I am unsure where you are searching... Most every Vyrso book is under 400 pages. One item to keep in mind: Logos doesn't want to have two versions of the same resource. Many of Francis Chans works, for example, WERE in Vyrso until they were moved to Logos. In other words, you need to check both sites. [:s]
