Kindle, MS Surface Pro Pen & A New Grandson

Can you believe it? 80% of the time I highlight something in Kindle on my (original) Surface Pro, it begins to highlight and then - as if possessed - jumps back a page or more. No reason - nearly every time!

I chuckled the first dozen times when I reproduced this error continually. Now its not so funny.

This happen to anyone else? Doesn't seem to matter if I use the Browser version either. Same result.

I did have some trouble with the Win 8 Kindle app jumping pages. So I downloaded the older Kindle for windows reader, and it worked fine. Allows simpler copying too. The problem seems to be with the app. Hopefully, they will get the app fixed soon.

Congratulations on the new grandbaby! I am a member of the grandfather club, too. I have 8 grandsons and 1 grand-princess who rules us all - all of them under 10 years old. (I lost a 10th grandchild in December shortly after birth.).

I always say, "God gave me my children to humble me, and my grandchildren to build up my ego again.". Aren't they wonderful!!

Michael, you are a treasure. I thought it was just me again.

I was about ready to cry having spent hours on this tonight - even turning my wife away with a photo of our new grandson because I was on the phone with MS Support (a nice guy named Caleb...the irony was not lost on me) for so long trying to fix this....ahem..."blessed" machine (lesser men would stick in another word....God forgive me for saying so)

I am throwing in the towel. The Surface is going back.

I tried the Windows App version too and incredibly it jumps locations while using the Surface Pro Pen too.

The Surface Pro and I are through (shouts of joy and relief from some of you I can hear already from RI). Here is why:

It runs hot consistently regardless of power control and fan tweaks.
The pen is junk even with a downloaded Wacom driver and recalibration. It doesn't work with Logos and the pen actually closed the book I was on while highlighting and said "Close Tab" in a weird icon in the middle of the screen I never saw before except on the Surface Pro.
I found out tonight it's incompatible with Covenant Eyes. That was a real killer and deal breaker for me.

I will take a bath on some of the connections my poor stepson bought me but to get back the $500 this piece of junk cost me will be well worth it. I hope Microsoft will take it all back including the Touch keyboard. Time will tell. I bought Office 365 for it too but that can be used on my old Toshiba laptop my stepson will give back to me (poor guy was hoping it would be an upgrade for him and now I have to be an Indian giver and ask for it back).

Buyer Beware - the MS Surface Pro is a frustrating quagmire of despair, frustration, and buyer's remorse. It's - in a word - cursed. I do not say this lightly.....and no doubt some of you (maybe even you Michael) will come to its defense but if you offered a free one to me right now or a full refund and let me keep it - I would say no thanks. Its that bad with Logos 5.x and Kindle for highlighting.

Lastly this...l did go look at my grandson's photo...handsome little guy who weighed in over 9 pounds. I hope to see him tomorrow.

p.s. I will probably go back to a simple Android reader like Nexus 7 or 8 or (gulp) make the leap to an Apple Air or Mini-Retina so I can walk away from my desktop and read at least...and get a little Logos functionality on something other than my Galaxy Note II phablet.

God bless you all who are stuck in hardware drain hopes, dreams and ultimately nightmares. Please learn from my mistake. Its been a lot of time and oh so much heartache. The Surface Pro is a headache you do not want no matter how attractive it looks or sounds....not even if discounted.

I don't blame you at all. You certainly gave it a more than fair try. If my experience was like yours, I would do the same thing.

I hope you get your money back with no problems, and you deserve to do so.

I agree that a the original Surface Pro is not a good option at all. I think it is a mistake for Microsoft to even sell it. It wasn't ready and underpowered.

My experience with the Surface Pro 2 has been very good. But I have no confidence in the less powered older unit.

thanks so sweet. i kept my new baby the surface too. i got a tip in here to download an older version of Kindle and it worked. Glory to God.
