when is "The Catholic Encyclopedia (17 vols.)" be available?
Unfortunately, we have had a long wait and I think that will continue. [:(]
Link
It's available on the internet. I'm guessing that $30 is too much in the eyes of many. Personally I think it is worth three times that in Logos and placed my bid accordingly when it was added to CP.
Here is the link to it. https://www.logos.com/product/8511/the-catholic-encyclopedia
I do wish Andrew had included this in the Verbum packages, and released it that way. Or at least in the Verbum+ packages.

The problem is not really that people think that $30 is too low, it is that the price people have bid (i.e. $30) will never be enough for the Logos customer base to move this to production. It is a real problem that people have lowballed valuable but intrinsically expensive collections which as a result will never move to production.
Mike I think your comment is absolutely correct! If you go to the Community Pricing page, and sort by "Bestselling", you will see the Catholic Encyclopedia is THIRD out of 377 resources on CP! I believe, others can correct me if I am wrong, that this means it has the third most bidders of all the resources.
So it is very popular, just the bids are way too low (or the production costs abnormally high).
Sadly if this is true, the chances of getting the significantly higher number of bidders needed at around $30 isn't going to happen - they don't exist, a tremendous number of people have already bid. Unless Logos sees a mistake in production costs or can figure out a way to bring it to market different/less expensively, they should really take this off of CP.
...they should really take this off of CP.
YES, and they should do the same for HERE as well, which I have already pleaded for them to do--so far, to no avail. The current CP auctions for these two are DOA and MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
In case you just opened the womb or have been dwelling under a rock, HERE is an absolutely AWESOME resource. It deserves to be in every Logos library.
LOGOS, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaasssseeee, reset the auctions for these two resources so they can enter production ASAP. Thank you.
***Just to be clear, I am not advocated taking them off CP altogether, just resetting them with charts that will foster bids that are sufficient to achieve production, i.e. the bottom end of both of these should be no less than $50-60.

No, what they should do is send out an e-mail to everyone who's bid to inform them of the facts of life: that the only chance of getting this resource into production during this papacy is to get most people to raise their bids considerably.
I agree,That's the point Don.It looks like it's not going to move up to production. Logos has to do something.
Bob actually made a post a month or two back listing what is needed to get this and other CPs intro production. Have to search for it, but L is aware of the issue.
Noticed "The Catholic Encyclopedia" has 13,712 pages so the current bid of $ 30 is effectively a mill level bargain at $ 0.0022 per page.
"Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics (13 vols.)" has 10,949 pages so projected price of $ 30 is another mill level bargain at $ 0.0027 per page.
Both resources need many more bids so production costs could be covered by thousands of Logos users, who pay when product ships.
Bob Pritchett posted => The best deals in Logos content! opined:
All of these are Community Pricing titles, so the price quoted is simply the peak of the curve today -- the most likely price at which the book will go over the line. But thousands of people have participated in Community Pricing, and if everyone bid even a notch or two below these peaks, almost all these works could go into production soon!
Keep Smiling [:)]

I know, but forum posts are fairly meaningless in cases like this. Not enough bidders read them. The only way to move the peak for a resource with this many bids, is to reach out to each and every one of them through an e-mail.
I might e-mail Andrew about it later.

....and that resource is the #2 most popular in terms of numbers of bids!
So if you want the resource bad enough, make a pb out of the public domain files that are available until we get enough voters to put this into production. FYI... it looks like Logos needs to triple its user base before we have enough willing people to pay $30 for this resource.
It could be the case as you describe...bids too low. However, I was happy to get the Jewish Encyclopedia on CP for $50. It went over the top quickly as I recall. I'm thinking it's a lack of interest with this resource, which is unfortunate.
Same with the other encyclopedias mentioned that are languishing.

That is not my recollection. I recall that the Jewish Encyclopedia took quite a while to gather steam before it finally made it to the top. $30.00 bids need to be raised to at least $50.00.
It has not been mentioned, but Encyclopedia Britannica is ¢0.295 a page if applying the current projected price $100. Push emails about it should be sent out to all!:

It took several years, and it went over with far fewer bids than the Catholic Encyclopedia already has. In the entire Logos catalogue of 13,265 products, there are only 24 that have sold more than the Catholic Encyclopedia. So there is certainly no lack of interest. It's just that the price is so low that I'm not sure it would go over even if it became the number 1 best seller.
I guess that explains why they haven't put it in Verbum. Even the all the Verbum packages together may not suffice to recuperate the cost. At least not in the near future.
Thanks for the explanations. Clearly I don't understand the math. Anyway ... I've been in at $120 for going on a very long time. I'm not optimistic given the lack of movement on the chart.
Oh well.

It's really pretty straightforward and simple. It takes 4 bids @ $30.00 to equal your one bid @ $120. There are sufficient bids @ $30 to make that control the bidding level. If those $30 bids were $120, the level would be 4X what it is now.

A bid @ $ 120 also includes a bid for all lesser amounts. Four bids @ $ 30 would lower projected price to $ 30 since 5 * 30 = $ 150, which is more than one bid for $ 120. If all $ 30 bids were raised to $ 120, anticipate The Catholic Encyclopedia (17 vols.) would have a projected closing price of $ 110 since all of the estimated resource development cost would be covered by Logos user community bids.
Caveat: seldom are bids dramatically raised by many. Hence, hoping for many more bids to cover estimated resource development cost.
There was a docx file (actually two) made of the complete Catholic Encyclopedia, I can't find who posted it or the post though.
Logos doesn't want to complete with the pb resources that its users create.
