No dynamic pricing for NICOT/NICNT?

Some day I dream of being able to afford the NICOT/NICNT 44-volume set. In the meantime I thought I'd take advantage of the March Madness sale and pick up Fee's volumes at 50% off. But a day after purchasing 1 Corinthians, I notice that my price for the 44 volumes of NICOT/NICNT (with the academic discount) hasn't changed. I don't really want to pick up individual volumes now if I am going to have to pay for them all over again when I can buy the 44-volume set. Now if I look at the price for just the volumes on Paul, it has dropped to reflect that I have 1 Corinthians. So there's dynamic pricing for the smaller subsets but not for the whole set? Am I seeing this correctly?

I don't have any of these and didn't want them for the a little lower initial price when the set had just been broken up and am unlikely to want any them even on a sale and confused about whether there's any worthwhile volumes, but an option for You would be to eventually buy all the subsets. Logos has to negotiate with the publisher what sets are to have dynamic pricing. So the pricing philosophy for the whole set may change in the future, or may not, and there's no telling how long time it will take:

The problem is that all the subsets add up to about $700 more than the academic pricing for the whole set. So I haven't bought any volumes yet (even though I use the hard copies of this set extensively!), thinking, "Why pay full price for a volume I need, when eventually I'll be able to buy all the volumes at a good discount." Now I can get individual volumes at a good discount, but it doesn't work toward my purchase of the whole set, so that's no good either.

Hey David,

I don't know if this helps or if Logos will do this again but last year there was a great back to school sale in August that included these sets. They don't go on sale often but maybe they will again in August. Just a thought.

It could be that they haven't implemented dynamic pricing for the whole set yet. As I understand it, DP has to be enabled manually on a case-by-case basis, and they are still working through the whole back catalog. If you contact Sales or Customer Service, I'm sure they can tell you whether they'll offer you a dynamic price on the whole set if you purchase it at some point later after picking up a few volumes on sale. It's quite likely they would. The only reason I can think of that they wouldn't is if the publisher disallows it, but since you say they already offer it for some of the smaller subsets of the whole series, then I doubt that's the case. Probably just an oversight that the full set hasn't been "dynamicized."

I have in my wish list the complete NICNT/OT set, just the NT set and just the OT set. The complete set is the only one of the three with dynamic pricing. When I spoke with a sales representative he told me they only offer the complete set for dynamic pricing and not the smaller subsets. He didn't know/say why.

As a side note, I did the math for just the NT set and saw that at full price the set was 955.83 if you buy them individually and not on sale and with the bundle price it is 879.95 for a savings of 75.88. I bought 7 volumes during March Madness (well, the Romans one was during a 3-day sale in February) and have saved 125.23 between the sale price and the regular price. Even if I buy the NT remaining books at full price, I'll still have saved close to double the savings of the bundle price.
