Is this the place for a 'lounge' discussion? Or is there somewhere else?

I know this is general, but is it more for general about Logos? Or can we can post threads about anything? Things like music, weather, bad days or even.....POLITICS? Stick out tongue

But really; I would hope something would be manageable and not need heavily moderated activity...but there are plenty other places to do so if not. I thought it'd be neat to get more familiar with some of the 'virtual faces' around here.

The Logos forums are intended to be used to discuss Logos resources and apps. Occasionally things move in other directions, but forum guidelines prevent us from turning this into a forum on <fill in the blank>.

That makes sense, and the more I thought of it, I realized things can get out of hand quickly and require quite a bit of overhead for a forum/discussion board.

I've browsed faithlife a bit, but it didn't seem to focus on social connections insomuch as just groups organized outside of the net, in real life, and then created on faithlife.

We do occasionally talk about other things. You can start a new thread here with the prefix "OT: " (meaning off-topic, not Old Testament [:)]) if you want to post something not directly related to Logos, e.g., a link to a fascinating article in the news about some discovery in archaeology. I remember we had a thread about the alleged Oldest Christian Books Found in a Jordanian Cave. It's fun to speculate and cast our opinions about such things, as long as we remember to keep it civil and not veer into theological arguments.

And in other threads, we often banter back and forth, sharing bits and pieces about our lives and joking around (see the infamous tongue-in-cheek "The correct way to Hijack a thread" thread). So the longer you hang out on the forums, the better you'll get to know these virtual faces and us you.

I, for example, am an American living in Vancouver (Canada), where I got my MCS from Regent College (2004). I am a major cheerleader for books by Regent faculty members and emeriti (Eugene Peterson, J.I. Packer, Gordon Fee, Bruce Waltke, Iain Provan, Mariam Kamell, and more). I knew Logos CEO Bob Pritchett before he founded the company, back when he was still working at Microsoft (where I worked), when he was tinkering with this Bible software as a hobby in his spare time. I'm a former MVP on the forums, stepped back to "MVP Emerita" status, but I still chip in when I have some spare time. And I'm a grammar nitpicker and have a wacky sense of humor. I'm an avid photographer, trumpet player, film buff. And I write and speak about the intersection between faith and technology (see my columns in Comment Magazine, Ethix, and my blog Faith & Technology). I'm also a lay leader at my Mennonite church (preaching and worship leading).
