when the footnotes make reference to "ibid" it would be very helpful if Logos (both on Logos 5 and mobile) could look back at the previois reference and let us see what the "ibid" refers to. Probably through a link
That would be very helpful[Y]
Very good idea. Especially since it's much harder to find with popups than with a printed book.
[Y]
This it true. On a printed book, it is usually trivial to find the reference. I find it is much harder in Logos, on the mobile reader (iOS) in particular.
Good idea! [Y] Ditto for op. cit. and loc. cit. And not just in footnotes, but any time these appear in the text (sometimes such references are included parenthetically).
This is potentially a task for humans. A script to add tagging could throw up systematic errors.
Potentially? This is definitely a task for humans. I don't think anyone was suggesting it could be automated via a script. Of course it would take forever for them to actually go through their entire back catalog and do this, but it's still a great idea for a project to chip away at little by little. I have a feeling it's going to be too time consuming for them to think it's worth the effort, though. I mean, how many users are actually going to want to follow up on what an Ibid. footnote is referring to? Maybe three? And imagine how many man-hours of work it would be to figure out and tag all the Ibid references in just one book that had a couple hundred footnotes. Now multiply that by 20,000 or something. Hmm.... Something tells me their cost-benefit analysis is going to say "don't do this." [EDIT: I just don't think it's possible to program an algorithm for intelligently determining the prior reference for every ibid., op. cit, and loc. cit. It takes some thought even for a human to figure it out.]
You took the words right out of my mouth... [;)]
Jacob I have often thought this, but never requested it. Thank you for doing so.

Let me again suggest that Logos use the benefit of crowd-sourcing this stuff. You have tons of users who could recommend or validate links. There are plenty of bad and missing links in the current Logos library that I wish we could fix.
Logos is moving in the wrong direction by not evening having the "report typo" option on their mobile system where much reading is now happening.
