Are "Lifeworks" products stand-alone applications?

Hello,

I have 3 "Lifeworks Library" Quick Start Guides that show up in my Logos library:

Jeremiah LifeWorks Library
Lucado LifeWorks Library
MacArthur LifeWorks Library

But these are only guides that show how to install and use these applications.

Are these "Lifeworks" products stand-alone applications that run outside of Logos 5? That is, must each be installed separately and launched independently of Logos? Or is there a way to run them from inside of Logos?

Welcome to the forums Tom.

All of the books from the authors listed above are readable inside of Logos.

Initially, they were released in the Libronix format Logos 3, and were designed so that the engine came with the books on a cd. Previously, Logos lisenced their software to others to use. They no longer do this. Jeremiah, Lucado and MacArthur were produced under this old model.

Those "quick Start" guides were designed for Libronix 3 (or Logos 3)

I hide them in L5 as they do not appear to be of any value/help etc.

In Libronix such Collections could serve as "stand-alone" modules.

If you have an old copy [or wish to install an old copy of L3) they would still work--as long as you are not running Windows 8 nor have upgraded past IE9. Libronix 3 is no longer supported but there is help available on the Libronix Forum.

[For the most part] In L5 the individual resources from these Lifeworks packages can be activated/used just like any other resource.

The Quick Start Guides are relics from the Logos 3 (Libronix) days, when third parties would sell CDROM-based boxed products that used the Libronix engine. The software would be configured so that the Quick Start guide would pop-up automatically to guide the user. This functionality is obsolete.

You can hide them in Logos 5 so they don't show up if you want. (Hold down the CTRL key and right-click on a resource. Select "Hide this resource" fro the pop-up menu. A restart of Logos is required to complete the hiding process)

I think I understand your replies. So let me restate.

The LifeWorks Applications with their GUIs (daily readings, hymns, etc.) worked only under Logos 3 which is no longer supported.

Although these LifeWorks applications are no longer available with Logos 5, all of the reference material that was available in these 3 LifeWorks packages should be available in my Logos 5 library.

Correct???

If this is the case, why did I get this update this morning when I opened Logos 5:

"The following resources were updated:

Jeremiah LifeWorks Library CD-ROM Quick Start Guide."

If this product does not work with Logos 5, why is it still being updated?

Is there a way to "unhide" it if I want to bring it back into view?

By the way, I've never had the Logos software detect and download a restored book automatically on restart. I always have to type in the "Update Resources" command into the program. (This command does a full comparison of your licenses with the server, and it's a bit slow)

Interesting - I had restart work fine on Friday. I wonder what settings make the difference?

This Quick Start Guide hasn't been updated since 2007. The only thing that could have caused this that I can think of is scanning an old Libronix CD-ROM for resources, and copying this resource to your hard drive in the process.

Different versions of the Lifeworks were available so it may also happen if one purchased the earlier version and Logos had the later one!
