BUG 5.2a: Can't set language from the command box any more

The Set Language to... command no longer shows up in the command box dropdown. Nor does the UIlang command. I have to use Program Settings.

Checked in both English and Swedish UI.

Also: the Help file only shows the second command option above, and doesn't show all available languages, in spite of the fact that you just updated it.

And why does clicking on the little question mark beside Layouts give me Logos Bible Software - <layout name> Help? The Help file isn't about my layout, it's about the software.

It still appears for me on 5.2a SR1 on Windows 8.1 - using the English UI

This was fixed in 5.1 Beta 3 on Windows as per http://community.logos.com/forums/t/73667.aspx - I wonder if the fix was ever applied to Mac?

No - I think the command is "Uilang" but that doesn't work either!

The command works for me if you enter the full command - it won't recommend a list of languages. So for example "uilang sv" correctly set my language to Swedish, and "uilang en" correctly set it back. We've checked this on Windows, 10.9, and 10.6 and it's working correctly.

The "set language to swedish" command also worked for me. Are you entering the full command? Typing "set language to" gave me a short list of languages (unlike "uilang") and Swedish wasn't one of them, but typing "set language to swedish" was recognized and worked correctly.

The fix was confirmed back in 5.1a on Mac, so it's likely regressed on Mac (repro'd on 10.6 and 10.9). We're looking into it.

I'll make a note to add "set language to" to the Help file.

No, I wasn't.[:$] But:

a) I don't think I've had to in the past. (I only really do this to check other people's bugs, so my memory of it is a bit vague.)

b) That just highlights the problem. I remembered the full command as 'set uilang to swedish', and tried that in full. I also tried various keywords like 'uilang', 'swedish', and 'language', waiting for something to show up in the dropdown. I believe I also tried 'set language' and got nothing, but I do now, so maybe I dreamt that part. However, I tried enough that by the time I started checking the Wiki and the Help file in order to write the post, I felt confident I had already tried everything. It never even occurred to me to make a new attempt with full commands.

The dropdown is supposed to be there to help me. I shouldn't have to remember the exact phrasing of every command I rarely use. I'm a Mac person. I hate commands. If this was a real Mac program all of this would be in the menu bar, and I wouldn't have to remember anything. But since I do, at least use the dropdown to actually help me with it.

And while we're at it, the dropdown takes far too long to populate. Especially when you're sitting there trying one option after another after another. It could use some optimizing.

Yes: it's a command that exists for tech support and troubleshooting. Users of this command are expected to know how it works.

The normal way to change UI language is through the "Language" dropdown under "General" in Program Settings.

Changing the UI language through the command bar is available for tech support and troubleshooting; it is not intended to be the primary UI for this feature.
