Pasting Greek into WordPerfect X6

How do I copy Greek text into WordPerfect X6? Using Logos 5.2a.

A normal copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL+V) does nothing in WordPerfect.

A right click + Paste does nothing.

An Edit > Paste Special... > Unicode gives me something, but some of the letters and accents are missing from the Greek that gets pasted in.

Do I need to install a font or something for WordPerfect to render the Greek correctly?

Pasting into Microsoft Word works fine, but I am trying to migrate away from Microsoft Office.

I found this through a Google search. I know the article discusses BibleWorks, but I would expect the problem is the same.

Word Perfect 6.0 - WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows has a serious problem with handling composite "overstrike" fonts, such as accented Greek, pointed Hebrew, Korean, Chinese, and other languages. This problem changes certain characters into unusable characters, often affecting printing and/or display. WordPerfect 6.0A for Windows fixed this problem.

Word Perfect 6.0A - Word Perfect for Windows Version 6.0A does not interpret RTF data correctly and will lose font information upon loading. All text will be displayed in English. Once the text is transferred, you can highlight the text as usual and change the font name to BWHEBB or BWGRKL as appropriate.

Word Perfect 6.1 or greater - If you wish to use BibleWorks with Word Perfect for Windows, we strongly suggest that you upgrade to version 6.1 or greater. The RTF transfer problem has been fixed in Word Perfect 6.1 for Greek text. However, it still does not recognize Hebrew text correctly. Oddly enough, changing the name of the font (inside the font) to another name seems to fix most of the problem. However, in deference to the many users with documents using the old name, we did not want to make the change a permanent one. Instead, we are shipping a different font, called HEBREW.TTF, with BibleWorks 3.5 which works well with Word Perfect. To use it you will have to install the font manually (see your Windows manual) and then in your BibleWorks Setup Dialog, change the BWHEBB font names to HEBREW.

The only remaining problem that the HEBREW font does not fix is that Word Perfect 6.1 will eliminate the space between two Hebrew words if the second word begins with the lamedh-holem combination. This is because the holem used by the lamedh is located on the ‘{‘ key, and Word Perfect (incorrectly) deletes what it thinks is an unneeded space after the ‘{‘. You can tell Word Perfect NOT to do this by turning off the "Delete unnecessary blanks" option under the "Tools/Quick Correct..." menu.

WordPerfect is not unicode compliant and is not likely to change. I was a devoted WP user for many years (when it was still under the WordPerfect Corporation), and it has become clear that under Corell, it is not likely to see any change in this regard. There are some Greek Hebrew fonts that are available (Graeca and Hebraica), but they will not help you paste from Logos into WP.

Logos switched to unicode with Libronix (Logos 3), and rightly so, since it is the industry standard. (Older versions (versions 2 and 1) had the ability to paste into WP using the fonts mentioned above.)

If you don't want to make the move to MS Word, a free (opensource), unicode compliant alternative is Libre Office, which can be found by searching the web for it.

As someone who used WordPerfect 5.1 back in school, it is with great sadness that I left WP a few years ago - especially since back in the day, one of the GREAT things about WP was the WP character set that let me actually put greek in my papers instead of blanks to fill in manually like most of my classmates. But times have changed, and WP has not joined in on Unicode, like even the online world has...
