App Won't Open!
Since updating to iOS 4.1.0 the app has been unstable.
Yesterday it was crashing on opening, but persistence paid off and it would eventually open and run.
Today, however, even that limited functionality has been lost!
Despite changing the Logos Settings to Open at Home page, the app will not open at all.
(Yes, I know that you are going to tell me that my iPad is an antique, but it is only just over three years old, and it has no problem with other apps which are able to run on iOS 5.1.1 which is the most recent that my original iPad can run. Logos ought at least to leave me with a stable version which is what I have from most apps whose improved functions are no longer downloadable for me. I even have Pages 4!)
Can anyone suggest something?

Hi Alan. Have you tried:
1. Deleting the Logos app - a pain if you have lots of downloaded resources.
2. Closing all other background apps on your iPad.
3. Resetting the iPad (either restarting / hold down home and on-off buttons together until apple symbol appears).
4. Reinstalling the Logos app?
No guarantees it'll work, but I'd try this if in your shoes.

Thanks!
Did 2 and 3 (I should have remembered that, as I had done it on a previous "upgrade") and it worked – the app has launched!
Thanks again.
Every blessing

Glad it's working for you again!

It is still not launching unless I strip out all (even as few as 3) background apps. Does that suggest that the app is a memory hog like the L4 Mac Alpha used to be?

I don't think so. iOS isn't the same as OSX in how apps run. What device do you have?
FWIW - I had to delete the app and reinstall it recently... Sometimes that is the best fix.

iPad original (see my signature)

Oh dear! I was hoping to avoid that! [:(]
I've got a lot of downloaded resources.
I'll try to use my work around of closing background apps. [:S]
Thanks for sharing your experience. I may have to do a reinstall – I hope not.[^o)]

Update:
The best work-around that I have found so far is to close the background Logos app only. Logos then launches without any trouble. I have not had to re-install and I have a lot of books downloaded. I need the latter because I often use the app in locations where a wifi connection is unavailable.
Vyrso launches and runs without any bother or need to delete background app.
I offer the status update in case it is of help to devs in developing a release which doesn't have this crash bug.

Did you mean to say: close all OTHER apps via the multi task bar?

Did you send in Logs?

I close only Logos app on multi-task bar.
How do you get logs in iPad?

I am confused. Are you just saying that sometimes the app won't open, you kill it via the multi-task bar, and then you can open it again? How frequently does it get so that you can't use it? Are you performing the same task when it happens? Using the same resource? If so, what task and/or resource?
How do you get logs in iPad?
Navigate to: Help | Send Support Info
An email dialog box will open. You might want to email the log to yourself. Normally, you shouldn't send the logs to Logos unless they are expecting the logs. If you do send the logs to them, make sure you clearly explain the problem in the email.

Alan,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues. Unfortunately the amount of time the mobile dev team can spend on testing/fixing iOS 5.1.1 related issues is limited. Logos' customer usage of iOS 5.1.1 is around 2.5% and dropping fast. The iPad 1 was released more than 4 years ago and discontinued just over 3 years ago - this is a very long time in terms of mobile devices and soon (just like many other vendors) we also will drop support for iOS 5.1 (although I don't know exactly when).
That said, please send in your logs to support.

Tried reinstalling as suggested. After initial boot and automatic resource download, app will not run at all. [:'(]
I think I'll have to abandon Logos on my iPad. It is the only app I have which is supposed to work on my iPad which doesn't!
Thanks for all your suggestions. Unless someone can come up with something else (short of buying a new iPad!) my trusty iPad will soon be a Logos-free zone!
[:(]
Every blessing to you all.
